Had he not started this season the way he ended the last, people would have very little to say other than great cross for Dele. But he didn't; he was poor against Newcastle. We saw the full range of Aurier's naff play. Poor is possession, poor positionally, dives in when he should stand off, makes rash last ditch challenges that end in fouls, and now seems to have lost the ability to head the ball.

When he first arrived I put it down to nerves, new surroundings, new faster paced league etcetera. But he showed zero improvement as the season went along. Looks like the summer has made no difference.

Even Sissoko looked better yesterday, and I wasn't sure I'd be saying that.

All I'm going to say is at the start of the 2015/16 season Lamela looked woeful. People had had enough and he went on to turn it around (before getting injured). One match is not enough to write a guy off.

I want him to be given a chance to improve, but at the same time, I want to start seeing KWP get game time, as he could become a great player for us.

Don't feel like there are enough games to be developing 2 RBs, while rotating with Trippier too.

Something's gotta give.

For both him and Trippier to be any good we need to go to three at the back. Both are suspect in a back four. I’d trust Trippier more in both roles I think, especially with the confidence he will have after his World Cup showings.

As I said, it's not one match. He was poor last season, and he's continued where he left off. At least he's consistent!

Serge is, worryingly, a player who needs as little defensive responsibility as possible. Maybe as a wingback it could work, but he will cost us in a back 4.

Watch us loan Rose and play KWP at left back.

Thought he put in some great crosses and was a real attacking threat. He does switch off defensively however which is a worry. Still, rather then making him the latest scapegoat i’d prefer the fans supported the player for a change. He will improve.

I'm afraid I don't share your confidence. Another one to add to "here one minute, gone the next" list, I think.

This fella + Sissoko on the right is a recipe for disaster.

Hard to disagree. The number of times they either gave the ball through a misplaced pass or poor control was worrying. Any team that presses aggressively will be licking their lips.

I’d never seen him before his time with spurs but have watched every game since he’s been here. Let’s be honest, he’s an accident waiting to happen. Yes he’ll come up with an occasional last ditch tackle or a peach of an assist but he’s far more likely to drop a bollock or 3 than he is to save / win is points.

Agreed - well put.

He's also terrible in the air and other teams have (not surprisingly) picked up on this

Serge needs someone in his ear the whole game, he is too erratic and a positional liability. He'll improve and settle into the league much better if he has experience leading him through the next few months which is why I want to see him given a run of games with Toby as RCB of a 3 - big Dave is also a little naive positionally (understandbale as so young) and certainly not going to help Aurier through a game. He never had that last year.

Has no brain. Relies on physicality and his bit of natural talent.

Kwp and trippier as RB options from now on please

Asked Jake (aka Yedlin) on Twitter for a comp of some of Aurier's "finer" moments from this weekend's match...

KWP > Aurier

Crazy fact: KWP lived like a 20 second walk away from me, bumped into him during a driving lesson lol, he pulled up in a benz :ROFLMAO:. Seems like a decent guy, hope he gets some PL game time this season.
