Also down to having a proper pre season. He didn't train with psg much last summer, can't be easy coming into a Poch side in England at full back and not feeling truly conditioned for it.
Yeah, that's a big part of it as well. Serge said as much in preseason interviews as well.

As usual, new player to a new league needs time to bed in....he showed glimpses last season and he's become a bit more consistent this season

I would love us to play him and KWP and sell Trippier, who is not going to get any better and is a total liability in a back 4.

Feeling a bit peckish so just nipped in for some humble pie. I thought this guy was an absolute clown last year, especially once it became clear he'd somehow become an international footballer without knowing how to take a throw in, but he's been excellent this season. Hopefully he keeps improving!

He was up against perisic last night, a player I quite rate and I thought he was superb. Didn’t give him an easy ride all game.

My new love Moussa Sissoko taught me not to write down anyone so I'm not going to write down Trippier but currently Aurier is our best right back. Another good, confident display. And I think he is slowly improving his crossing. Some good curly balls to the box in last games.

i don't know, 9 out of 10 still hit the first man's shins or end up sailing over everyone.

defensively i've never really had too much of a problem with him bar the rash decisions to dive in(which he seems to be reining in) but going forward he still has a long way to go.

People complaining about our fullbacks crossing needs to realise that it's not necassarily too much wrong with their crossing itself, it's just that hopeful crosses into the mixer is a very ineffective way of attacking. It's easy to deal with for defenders. When a player like Trippier has about 10 unsuccessful crosses per game, it's not because he's bad at crossing.

Teams will often leave him with space to get a cross in, since he likes crossing, and crossing is easy to deal with. Cutbacks, or fullbacks running in behind to play volleyed passes between the goal and the goal keeper is a whole other ball game in terms of efficiency.

I hate crossing for the reason that somebody can whip a ball and it creates a little bit of tension with the defender heading away 90% of the time. It appears more dangerous than it actually is and people tend to overstate the fullback whipping cross after cross with being a threat. We've been blessed by Trippier in the crossing sense as he's much more effective than any fullback I can remember at crossing.

Still looked to me like his throw in technique was very suspect in the last couple of games. Other players do it as well but he should be more conscious of it than them.

His crossing seems fine to me - he's had a few assists from them.

It's definitely better than Walker's was (no slur intended on Walker who gave us tremendous pace and power from right back and I'd happily still have).

It's not as good as Trippier's, but then Trippier has one of the best deliveries of a full back around at the moment.

But I still prefer the pace and power Aurier provides as more suiting to how Poch sets up.

It's the same on the other side, Davies can produce some very good performances (granted he has struggled for form this season, but was very good start of last) but I would still prefer someone with a bit more pace / power / aggression at left back as it suits the team set up better.

Aurier has good chemistry with Moura and especially Sissoko and plays better with them. Tripper doesn't seem to have perfect understanding with anyone on the pitch like them. Corluka was much less useful without Lennon for example. Trippier is still better in a formation with 3 at the back IMO so it's good to have options.

Also poor movement in the box, not attacking the near post enough and expecting all crosses to be put on a plate for them.

To no surprise he looks better with Toby next to him. Is he great? No, but unfortunately he's the best we have right now. It's just going to be hit or miss with him.

No, he really isn't. Positionally he's is probably the worst fullback we have had in 15 years. Constantly being sucked into positions he has no right to be in. Constantly committing to challenges he has no way of winning, exposing our CBs. Constantly jumping in when he shouldn't. I genuinely don't understand why he gets rated so highly.

He can't even run his way out of trouble because contrary to popular opinion, he has no pace. If you watch him he very rarely beats his man and when he does, generally his decision making is poor.

Regardless of other bad performances today (of which there were many), he was comfortably the standout under performer on the pitch. The impact his positional naiivity has on the game and team is unrivalled. It unnecessarily drags midfielders in to cover the space and leaves his CB continuously exposed.

He gets very lucky generally with Toby behind / alongside him but today really showed the impact he can have on not only our play, but the influence this space can have on another teams tactics.

Trippier will never be good enough for us. I’m still 50/50 with Aurier, he was good last week but dreadful today. I’d keep him in and see, if he has more games like this then I’d put KWP in till end of season. If he doesn’t show enough then we should sell both Tripper and Aurier and buy a new starting RB.

Trippier has been horrid all season in defense. Neither are good enough, but I'll take my chances with Serge over Trippier.

This is the same player that kept Hazard and Perisic silent just last week.
