I would rather he played than Trippier who believes his own hype now

Trip is a good option against poor teams that just give us all the possession and have no pacey threat

He wouldn't have helped at all today, in a back 4 against The pace and press of the arse men

Oh how I miss the days of walker and rose

When Aurier plays I often find myself wishing Trippier was playing and when Trippier is playing I often wish Aurier was playing. I guess that means I wish we had better RBs.

I think Aurier is the better defender but he has a terrible big game temperament, I don’t have any confidence in him.

As I said earlier in this thread I’m just staggered by our recruitment, at least 6 months to scout Walker replacements and we wait until the end of the window for Aurier.

Poor again today, has the odd decent game but there's no room for improvement. Have to think that unless KWP gets a game on Wednesday he never will, which is a shame.

KWP is just to sligh of body and core strength I think. For Poch at least. Surely the only thing holding back.

He has done much better this season but unfortunately yesterday showed he just isn't good enough for the level we aspire to. Trippier has shortcomings too and while they both have things going for them too, it probably shows we need to buy a better right back.
The West Ham Cup game suggested that Walker Peters isn't there yet, certainly in terms of strength/power.

My patience is running thin with him now.

It's his second season and yesterday he was literally so so bad. We really miss Walker in games like yesterday. I don't think he will ever be good enough for the level we need and his big game mentality is atrocious.

Chelsea and Inter aren't big games?

He was crap yesterday but there's a lack of perspective here I'm seeing from people in the wake of the defeat.

A bit like good Spurs performance's this season, I can count good performances from Aurier on one hand.

We've seen him lose his head in big games constantly over two years, particularly away from home. It was a shocker all round yesterday so I am not singling him out, but when Aurier is bad, he is literally a complete liability.

Well if you're evaluating him on his 2nd season I'm not sure how his first season is relevant? Three big games in a week, if he was good for two of them and bad for one that doesn't seem to me like he has a poor big game mentality.

Judge him on his time this season an despite the inconsistency I think there's more positives than negatives.

Aurier isn't good enough. I used to think he made rash decisions because he thought his pace and strength would get him out of trouble. But now I just think he's a terrible decision maker. And it's not like he's got so much going forward to make up for it - he almost never takes his full back on one-on-one. There are some full backs for mid-table teams who would be better back-ups.

Davies on the other side isn't great either, but he's a more capable full back and certainly good enough squad player. In my mind, Rose and Trippier are our first team full backs - better than the other two when all are at their best - and we need them fit and firing again.

Our full backs are just not good enough for the modern demands and game and the level we want to be at. They need upgrading .

Is trippier fit to play ?

Completely agree unfortunatly. I really dont think putting Aurier alongside Foyth away in the NLD did any favours for ether player and both looked rattled early on. And I’m still hoping that by the end of the season Aurier will click. But in reality, I would probably be happy with selling Trips, Aurier and Davies (keeping Rose for the club trained quota) and starting from scratch. Our defence and central midfield has been shocking this season with th exception of a now injury prone winks. Come next summer our team is going to need a major overhaul if we really don’t want to get left behind let alone challenge for honours.
