If he's that exceptional he'll make it.[/B] I don't recall us letting any young player go that's gone on to be exceptional elsewhere. I'll trust our coaches over your viewing of some youth games thanks.

How can he make it if he is not given a chance? There is only so much you can do in training.
Pochettino has said in the past that we have to make room for our top young players coming through and that’s what I thought he was doing when we allowed walker to leave.

I know. What's your point?

well you've just said that because trippier's a better crosser of the ball then he's technically superior? as though there are no other facets of the game that you can attribute technical ability to?

There is a lot that you can do in training. Remember, Poch films everything and it is detail like this that allows him to better judge where a player is. KWP is playing against some great attacking talent during training as are all of our defenders, with the depth in our squad, I expect there are some pretty intense sessions at times as everyone is pushing to either maintain or gain minutes. If / when he is ready, Poch will put him on the pitch.

No it's just one area, important and valuable one, that he is far superior. Whether he is at each and every other facet, it's difficult to tell and no one here can really say.

KWP's better at running with the ball quite possibly as it's not one of KT's strengths but is he better in the air, positionally, mentally and physically stronger, a better tackler/passer? I don't know and one very very good performance at Newcastle aside it's not really possible to make a judgment or rather rebuke the manager for not replacing an experienced, developed and technically sound player with a young kid.

I think a lot of people here just either naively or pretentiously think they know better than experienced professionals who know how to develop players. One can disagree of course, my opinion of Sissoko's inclusion in the team is clear, but it has to be tempered with some perspective and humility.

not sure it's born out naivety or pretentious(ness?), more that as mere fans we're free of consequence whereas managers are obviously responsible for every decision they make and are under constant pressure to deliver so it's understandable for them to go with the perceived safer option where possible. it's not like aurier has been foot perfect in his short time here though, he's been sent off, given away a penalty, tried gifting palace a goal on more than one occasion the other day and there have been a few other iffy moments. it's ok for a new signing to have these teething problems though but curiously youth players are given much shorter rope.

i don't think kwp is as good as trippier or aurier right now but that's not really the point, if you as a club think he can be in the not too distant future(it's not like we're talking about a 17 year old here) then i think you have to make allowances and make sure that he's afforded the best possible conditions to develop. i don't at all buy into this belief that "they'll make it if they're good enough", those who believe that are effectively saying that game-time is of little to no benefit in shaping a player's future and are ignoring a whole myriad of other factors.

I don't disagree with much of that really.

But essentially, what's the rush? He's young and we have two able and talented (albeit imperfect and slightly raw in terms of Aurier and the EPL) right backs and if he's good enough, he will get a chance and take it; as Kane, Alli, Dier, Davies, Winks, Trippier himself all did when fortune allowed them to start when it wasn't evinsaged at the beginning of any of those particular seasons that they would be starters.

Ahh the classic fans cant have a proper opinion because we arent privy to behind the scenes knowledge and training. Combined with you cant judge how the qualities of a youth player will translate to the senior game, because they dont even play the same game at youth level and it's such a massive leap up to the premeir league.:rolleyes:

I dont get why at times youth watchers get bashed, because they have the audacity to inform themselves about who is coming through at the club and feeling that the best from the youth teams can perform at a high level. It's just our/there personal opinions that should be encouraged to further discussion on here.

While in this particular RB triangle, I had no problem with bringing in Auirer at time, because for Poch's system it is imparative to have a at least one powerful athletic fullback that can get up and down the pitch on each side. Trippier last year wasnt that sort of player, and KWP isnt physically mature enough yet to be possess the raw power. So it is completely understandable why Poch felt it was necessary to bring Serge in. With the succesion plan in mind to allow Aurier to settle into the club then move trippier who despite his immense crossing ability, stylistically doesn't really fit that well, to give room for a more mature KWP.

However I dont think anybody could have predicted the leap that Trippier has took this year. his performance level and style of play has gone up to an excellent level. Which creates what can only be a good headache in how to handle squad persannel over the next few years.

Starting to think that neither Trippier or serge are really quite good enough. Both are ok but I’d still have walker all day long. Won’t happen but I’d consider selling both in summer prob get £50m odd and buy a real worldly RB and have KWP as back up.

And what's gonna happen when this 'worldy' right back struggles to live up to expectations, you'll want to flog him of as well no doubt?

Sometimes you gotta show a little patience...

Too early on Aurier IMO. I think that it's a bit kneejerk/modern fan to make a judgment at this stage. With Trippier, well he was being lauded not that long ago. I fully appreciate maybe not by yourself but it's all opinions.

Really think Aurier is going to be a beast, as soon as he builds an understanding with the players around him. That was Walker's best attribute was how he worked with the lads around him and there comfort level with him. Trippier should be moved on to allow KWP to grow.

Poch is the fullback whisperer, but he can't work his magic in 3 months, it takes time.

We would lose our best assister this season if we lose Trippier. Following a really poor start, I think he's been very good.

he's been very good and i'd have no problem with trippier staying on, but stylistically he doesnt fit in our system and I just truely believe that KWP is going to be a beast. Also I think if we sell Trippier this summer we can maximize our value we can get for him.
