They weren't awful they were inconsistent like Aurier is.

Yeah that’s fairer (more fair?)

Though I do think Aurier has been more inconsistent than Walker and Rose ever were but that’s understandable seeing as he had no experience of the EPL

I think he’s been pretty good. Not sure where the flack comes from.
Might be something to do with the 3 penalties he's given away, and the few others he's been lucky to get away with, the foul throws, and general wasteful crossing from good positions. Apart from that he's been great.

I would still expect a big improvement next season, although I'm not sure it will be big enough.

Oh yeah, he’s been a clumsy bastard at times - still nowhere near as bad as the morons that have been slating him make out. Talent-wise, he has what is necessary - but his application can be found wanting. I can’t think of one time he’s been lucky not to give away a penalty?

What about the scorching goal vs Bournemouth? The last ditch blocks and tackles? The crosses he mishits on purpose to give us a chuckle? I think he’s supported the attack and defence well, with a lot of energy, when he’s played. Vertonghen is the best centre back in the league, but he’s got a way with a lot in the box this season.

Will see what happens next season.

I was very optimistic based on his performance away to Real Madrid. He gave away a trademark penalty, but that was more a case of either risking conceding a penalty or having Kroos shoot from 8 yards. He played very well the rest of the game and gave a vibe of him just knowing that he belonged at the level where he could just more or less shut down a left side with Marcelo, Isco and Ronaldo. And delivering on that knowledge as well.

But he's still a downright liability, even if he's not the downright shitstorm some people make him out to be. Hoped that he'd found his feet a bit more at this stage, but I'm not giving up on him yet. The language barrier, no preseason and moving to another league playing for a team where such huge demands are put on the fullbacks seems like mitigating circumstances.

He's speaks English just fine...he told Wanyama to "fuck off" multiple times the last time he gave away a foul throw.

He’s in a new country, a completely different way of life on and off the field... he’s got a huge amount to learn and that takes time. He’s bound to make mistakes and yes he needs a slap for the repeated foul throws. He has however put in some decent performances and has the raw attributes to do well with sufficient coaching and adapting his game over time to how the team plays. When he makes a mistake people are jumping on the bandwagon of ‘oh he’s shit, get rid’... yet his competition (Trippier) has been awful at times this season too and he’s our experienced full back! All players make mistakes - Lloris has been poor recently, Kane’s half asleep, Dembele has no end product, Davies has been atrocious, Alli and Son have a habit of going MIA.... only when he’s had a good 2 seasons and still looks like a liability, then yes we should be looking to move him on. If he does well then great.

It’s due to all the media stuff before we signed him, imo. People got a preconceived notion of him being a bad egg and troublesome - and they’re for some reason desperate to keep seeing him that way.

Very unusual player. He has been a complete shambles at times but I believe there is something there which can be worked on by Poch and his coaches. I think he is basically a more talented footballer than Walker but he needs a lot of work on the mental side of his game. He can go past players and he can put good balls into the opposition defence.

Whether however we should be working very hard with him to sort out his weaknesses or whether we shouldn't have bought him and rather worked with KWP instead is the question. I would have saved the money and worked with KWP.

He really needs to work on his defensive positioning as well. There is a reason he gives a lot of penalties, he is constantly giving wingers a yard advantage and he doesn't have the pace to atone for the error. So he goes lunging in... He needs to improve a hell of a lot to make it here. Right now he is a liability.

Get a good pre-season under his belt and hopefully Poch to diminish the brainfarts that appear to still be lingering in the RB position...we may just get to see performances resembling something we hoped we were going to get from Aurier.

I do like Ricardo Periera (Porto) if we are looking to bring one in though. That said, as stated regarding Gelson Martins...Hard league to judge quality, some teams are mediocre at best and would even make Arse look good.

A common complaint is he dives in and gives away needless fouls and penalties. Well guess what Walker and Rose used to do before they were ‘coached’ to use their pace and strength positively? That’s it, they would also dive and give away needless fouls. If he can learn to stay on his feet then he will become a very competent full back. Also don’t forget, his crossing is also criticised... he’s a bit hit and miss to be fair but the trend is to focus on his cock ups as opposed to the good deliveries he makes. What was and is Walker and Rose’s main pitfall? neither of them can cross either.

Once again Levy's fondness of waiting until late in the transfer window has hurt us. If we are to compete for trophies we must buy players earlier in the window and give them a chance to acclimate to Poch's high fitness standards PRIOR to the start of the Premier League season. I think Aurier possesses all the traits that Poch covets in a fullback and has a tremendous upside. However, next season will be a make or break season for his Spurs career as there are no excuses for the sometimes sloppy defending and conceding penalties. I think that Trippier is a good right back, but KWP and Aurier have the potential to be better than him in the future.

I remember Benoit Assou-Ekotto having a very difficult start to his time with us and he turned it around.
Not too mention, Danny Rose who also was not favoured by the majority of fans until Poch came in and got him to very high levels, so much that he was the best left back in the league - which none of us were expecting.

I believe Aurier will be the same.

Someone writes that he believes aurier is a liability . If you hold this view you are a moron says some one else.Surely you can have opposing views without someone who does not hold your view being called a moron; grow up please

This guy has the raw materials to be a good full back, for sure. What's incredible is his 'brain fart' ability, though to be fair I think he got very unlucky with his pen against Brighton

If (stress If) he can cut that rash element out of his game, and he wouldn't be the first player to improve massively in that regard, he could be a very good player. He needs another season I reckon
