I think that right now it would be fair to say that if ge was to play at rb all sesson he would cost us alot of point across a season.
Yesterday 2 moments in particular. Just after halftime when he froze dead and lost track of what was happening for the diame strike that hit the post. He didnt gave a clue anybody was their.
Secondly the kenedy chance when he was in miles of space across on that side. He was very naive to get dragged in. He should be checking constantantly for danger.
Only help would be 3 at the back but even then you would want trips for his attacking prowess

Agree with all of that

Another issue is his lack of attacking effectiveness. Since Walker left, we've not had a right-back that has absolutely terrorised the opposition left-back, getting in behind to the touchline, or running into the area. Trippier isn't so direct, but his crossing from deep is so good that he's still effective. But Aurier adds little going forward*

*okay, okay, apart from an assist today, but I doubt he's going to get many of those this season

Fucking hell, he wasn’t that bad.

Considering it was his first game and everyone is bound to be a bit rusty I thought he did ok. I doubt we’ll see many, if any, better assists than that from him or Trippier all season.

Both him and Trippier are much better suited to 3CBs and Davies is better in a back 4. IMO it's about time KWP got at chance at RB - he seems a more steady all round player.

Shocking footballer, aside from the assist he is a disaster waiting to happen. KWP MUST be a better bet assuming Trips is unfit.

There were a few ropey performances out there today, so Aurier wasn't the only one. But the likes of Eriksen and Kane have enough credit in the bank, so to speak, that you'd expect them to start producing at some point soon. Also, we don't really have any alternatives or replacements for them, whereas with Aurier we've got Tripps and KWP waiting in the wings, so he's going to be scrutinised more closely.

Also, the standard to which we expect our players to perform is, quite rightly, set to a very high level. If Aurier was playing for Newcastle today, their fans might say "Fair enough; the guy looked okay, made a couple of mistakes that could have led to conceding a goal, but in the end he did get himself an assist".

That's good if you're looking at a mid-table finish, but it's not good enough if you're looking to finish in the top 3.

It's the tight margins for us these days and I'm afraid to say that if you don't make the grade, you're out the door!!

Unfortunately, some people need a whipping boy and Aurier gives them what they need. I don't think anyone did particularly well v Newcastle but in spite of the sensational cross for Dele's goal, Aurier still gets pelters from some. IMO he needs to be coached on his defensive positioning most of all and I think KWP is probably better from what I've seen. He certainly doesn't dive in like Aurier does. I also think KWP can play with 2 or 3 CBs whereas Aurier and Trippier are much better with 3.

He constantly gives away fouls and is often out of position. I hope KWP gets a chance. We should have played him instead of buying Aurier.

I don’t think he was that bad. Unfortunately, the one moment that will stuck was when Kenedy had the entire Tottenham half to himself. That’s on Serge. Where the fuck he was going is beyond me.

But other than that, people are overreacting to his general performance. Also worldie of an assist, and I agree he’d be better suited to 3atb to allow him license to roam.

Watched the match in full last night and you do notice stuff that is often missed if watching live. Aurier was not good at all. Diving in again and just not playing like a proper player. To win games when him and Sissoko are n the team takes some doing. KWP cannot be far away from taking his place. Sooner the better.

I'm really not a fan of him. He will cost us points. He's so erratic. Poor positioning. Dives in. Gets caught ball watching.

Him and Sissoko were so clearly our weak links out there today.

Aurier great cross for the goal and he wasn't terrible but I just don't see him as the long term answer for us.

I was very dissapointed in his performance yesterday. Constantly diving into tackles, out of position a couple of times, playing Dier short on a very basic pass etc, however the press and pundits will just remember the assist for Alli (which was the only positive thing from his game yesterday).

The more game time he has, the quicker he will be found out. We have great options with Trippier and KWP, hopefully Poch can see this.

That assist was better than ok.

Shit, we would’ve dropped points if it wasn’t for that peach of a cross.

I know people people are acknowledging that but it seems quite harsh to say yeah, thanks for the assist and 3 points but you were shit today, Serge.

Anyone saying he did ok was clearly just watching the MOTD highlights he is terrible he is rash, his concentration is non existent and going forward doesn't seem to have a clue what to do, apart from one moment where he got the assist for Dele. There was a point he got the bal just outside the box, he had what seemed like 5 minutes with space all around him and he hit it right into the crowd. Look at Dier's reaction to him when he was trying to tackle Kenedy.

There is a massive difference in a rusty performance and a liability.

I used to watch him, albeit didnt observe him closely, at PSG and thought he was brilliant and was the obvious choice to replace Walker,

He has surprised me with how poor he has been defensively although yesterday his attacking play was much better than in the previous season.

To be honest though, we were a shambles defensively all over, it wasnt solely Aurier but a great deal did come from his side.

That last bit is exactly the case though, other than that cross he was complete shite. That’s coming from someone who was talking him up before he arrived as well.

It's nothing to do with needing a whipping boy, it was genuinely one of the worst individual defensive performances I have seen in a long long time. Fortunately we have Trippier and KWP, because if we were relying on Serge he would cost us a lot of points this season.
