I was all for giving him the benefit of the doubt going into season 2 but after that debut... Rewatching that cut up was interesting. Sucks we went from the best RB in the league to having 3 to juggle all of which have question marks.

He is perhaps the most damning indictment of our scouting system. We knew for at least 6 months we needed to replace Walker and decided Aurier was the guy. I think some blame must lie at Poch’s door as well as it can’t be coincidence we keep buying and being linked with physically strong and technically poor players, that must be coming from him.

There are a lot of negative things you can say about Aurier, but being technically poor is not one of them

Kyle Walker has question marks.
That being said, would like to see Trippier and KWP with the nod and Aurier being sold asap

Oh look, he's mentioning Kyle Walker again. Tell us about not having a HG goalkeeper now.

He seems to have the positional awareness/discipline of a fart in a breeze but without the pace of someone like Walker to get himself out of trouble. Thought he was a panic signing at the time, havent seen much to suggest to the contrary.

There’s newspaper rumours that athletico enquirered about him. I wonder how much they offered?

I remember Assou-Ekotto and how people just slaughtered him. Give the man support first, he (Aurier) did not play as badly as people made out.

KWP > Aurier

Crazy fact: KWP lived like a 20 second walk away from me, bumped into him during a driving lesson lol, he pulled up in a benz :ROFLMAO:. Seems like a decent guy, hope he gets some PL game time this season.
Be thankful it wasn't Aurier. Based on the pitch, he'd have run you down, reversed over you, got out to give you resuscitation and instead committed a foul throw. Then Sissoko would have followed along and kicked you in the head, when he'd meant to support it.

...but they’re giving 100% so don’t be too harsh

Bullcrap.

Napoli rumours also bullcrap - I guarantee it.

Any club with any sort of scouting setup knows this guy would cost them many points over the course of a season.

Aurier put in a fantastic cross for the goal, but almost cost us 3, 4, 5 goals at the back.

So you’re saying we don’t have a scouting set-up?:cautious:

So many opinions on this guy from folks but when he plays well and is our best player on the night it's all crickets in here. Other players can be shit for whole seasons but when they pick their nose the right way they become world class and certain folks can't stop chirping about it. Weird dynamic.

I'd imagine it has to do with the thread being buried a few pages back. Anyways, thats the game we all knew/thought he was capable of. That was how he played in that first game against Dortmund. He has all the ability to be a fantastic player, it's all about focus.

His best is better than Trippiers and I'd like for him to get the opportunity to grow on that performance. As someone said a few days ago, no other top defenses rotate their fullbacks like we do. Let Serge and Rose get a run of games together and see what dynamic the added speed on the field can do to help us. We are painfully slow when we play Trippier and Davies.

think part of the reason is many of us want KWP to be given a chance to be one of our two RBs....think it was a mistake/ unfortunate chain of events that saw Aurier being bought in the first place

Hindsight is always 20/20. We were all pretty excited about Serge and most would have been scared going into the season with Tripps and KWP.

Was difficult, I remember KWP had a great game vs Newcastle then was dropped for Chelsea and Trips was woeful and I was desp for a signing. I also thought Aurier looked like he would be world class vs dortmund, did his little duck down turn right infront of me, I'd love for him to kick on but I'm concerned about another year of wasting KWP.

if Trippier had started the season the way he had ended the last (ie at his highest level)....Poch and co may have taken a second look at things and decided to go with KT as first choice and KWP as back up....if it could be done all over again those funds would surely have been saved and spent on, for eg, Ndombele
