would like to see him take on the defense a bit more when he has the ball.

Glad he got his first in the PL from open play and now its time to build on that

Whether or not it has clicked yet we didn't buy Soldado to do the creative stuff. We bought one of the best finishers in European football, with the best movement inside the penalty area because we are supposed to be a creative side with Eriksen, Gylfi, Lamela, Townsend, Paulinho, Dembele, Holtby, Chadli, Lennon there to create for Soldado who was bought to be the cutting edge and over time he will prove that is what he possess.

Im not asking him to be creative, just if he has the ball at his feet in the box to make some space for a shot.

I think a lot of forwards would struggle with the slow build up we've become accustomed to recently. The first half on Sunday was painful.

If we start to feed Soldado regularly he'll deliver - that's where we've bought the proven quality, but he needs good service.

Hopefully he'll kick on from here and the confidence gained will allow him to engineer a little more for himself when needed to.

Ordinary strikers require service all of the time (Darren Bent, Frazier Campbell). Top strikers are capable of creating their own, often.

The most pointless criticism of a striker ever. Finally been proved that it is unfounded to criticise his ability and believe that Defoe should start so moves on to arguing we should have a juggling clown or fire eater up front instead of Soldado as they would interest him more.

On the other hand, you could just enjoy Soldados quality and read a book or something for entertainment? Or do you still prefer the idea of Soldado sky diving into WHL, playing and then maybe do a bit of break dancing for your entertainment at half time?

I'd like to enjoy Soldado's quality if he touched the ball more than twice in an hour.

That's not true, look at the likes of Lineker, purely Just a finisher, and there are plenty of other examples like him.

Were players such as Gary Lineker, who were brilliant goalscorers because of their movement and finishing in the box not top strikers then? Poor logic. Same goes for Nistelrooy, Mario Gomez, Inzaghi..

If you think Soldado is in the same bracket as Frazer Campberll this discussion is over big lad!

No, he is a bit better than Frazier, though the latter has scored more goals from open play in the Prem this year (heh).

He is of a similar ilk though. Doesn't do much unless someone can thread an inch perfect ball to him (tough in today's game).

You only have to look at the top strikers over the past 10 years in Europe to see that Soldado's type of striker is not the one anymore. You need more and we need more.

For Getafe he scored 29 in 60. For Valencia he scored 59 in 101. I doubt either club considered him an ordinary striker.

Great movement inside the box and the ability to stick the ball in the back of the net is the same as in 1990.

His great movement in the box has so far yielded nothing. Andros has put in multiple good crosses into the box this year. Even Siggy and Paulinho have looked more dangerous in the box.

But thats the problem. Soldado has had some good movement but has struggled to find that extra bit of space.

Not sure if the high line is causing the problem where we cant break as much as we have so many players pushed up already pushing the other team back into a more compact unit.

Afonso Alves scored 45 in 39 in Holland. Wowzers.

But Valencia are a Champions league team in one of the stronger leagues in the world... Getafe were a weaker team in one the best league sin the world... I don't see your 'point' at all

Before we wright him off here, you not think it would be prudent to at least give him a few months to see how he is doing by then?

I mean, come on....he's played 7 games - and he's just scored a very good goal, you could well have egg on your face soon enough.

The pace of our play so far this season would cause any striker of Soldado's ilk problems for sure.
