To be fair the whole team is boring these days. Struggled to stay awake during that first half on Sunday.

Exactly this, with the exception of the occasional exciting run from Townsend, our general style of play can often be mind-bogglingly dull. Hopefully properly integrating Lamela and Eriksen into the squad will go some way towards making us a more exciting team.

Jesus, we arent playing anywhere near the level we should be yet we are gettign results. The way AVB wants us to play was shown in that few minutes before the goal. One touch football with intelligent movement and picking out a pass for Bobby to finish (started by Bobby). Anyone who plays any sport knows how hard it is for new members to gel, you need to get used to other plyes movemnt and premenditate what they are goign to do and where they are going to be. 8 games simply inst enough for that when you have had as much change up to as us. We are improving and we are nowhere near the finished article.

I think you are forgetting the exciting football we played in the first half against Inter Milan. There is 20mins of good shit right there.

Sorry mate, that's rubbish. The guy doesn't need it on a plate by any stretch of the imagination, and in fact his goal v Villa was not a gilt edged change particularly, it was a move that he started, then timed a great run in which invited the pass from Paulinho, and then sent his eyes one way while lifting the ball the other. The countless volleys he's scored over the years, first time rather than half, over the shoulder or from crosses, from all angles in the area, those aren't gilt edged chances, those are not on a plate, those are executions of a very difficult technique which is designed to deliver an earlier shot than anticipated by opposition defenderse and goalkeepers, before they have time to find their footing and put in tackles/ blocks.

And the amount of one touch passes he lays off when he does drop to the flanks and deep will surprise you too by the way, he has that Spanish ability to decide where he sends the ball before he's even touched it, and then not dally at all doing so. He's like a taller, better, harder working Keane, and in another league to Defoe who has faded a lot in the past 12 months anyway.

I wish i was there dude, but i cant forget the Ade of last season.....i just cringe and cant bear the though of his lazy first touch and inability to finish from 5 yards. He let me down, he let you down, he let everyone down and i think he has a lot to do to prove his worth back to us.

Should he get the chance, i will support him, as i do all our players but he owes us all a little bit more. The chelsea performance last year was incredible but it wasnt enough to earn my respect back and its something i personally dont think he will ever manage.

Not at all, they won the league. But many on here (in fact most) used to say they couldn't bare playing boring football to win. They'd quote Blanchflower and Nicholson and talk about 'the Tottenham way' funny how it's OK to be painfully boring even though in reality we're no better off (still sans CL).

I think we can expect our play to be boring for now as tehy are being over careful. When it clicks it will all be more natural and more awesome.

I never watched AvBs Porto, but I can say hand on heart Ive never seen an AVB side playing awesome football.

Brutally efficient, drilled, disciplined yes.
