Lol. Barcelona have already had 2 young players from Korea come through their academy and as far as I know they can still exercise a buyback clause for Lee Seung-woo from Verona.

If Barca came calling, you honestly think his head wouldn't be turned? He might even fancy returning to Germany at Bayern etc. I think you're being optimistic to the point of delusion regarding Sonny.

Massive, MASSIVE difference between a couple of kids coming through their academy & them signing fully pledged Korean internationals though buddy.

And to be fair to @Luka Van der Bale , he only said that Asian players dream of playing in the Premier League. For all we know, that's perfectly true.

Who or when was the last Asian player to play for Barca?

As for Bayern, only 7 months ago (after being linked with them) he told the world that he's only just signed a new contract & is happy at Tottenham - https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/09/23/son-heung-min-responds-when-asked-about-joining-bayern-munich/

Things can change very quickly in football and to say Barcelona wouldn't be appealing, almost just because he's from South Korea is a bit silly IMO.

He also nearly left Spurs to go back to Germany early on after joining. If a big club came in with a big offer, you just cannot tell what might happen.

Edit: Potentially being the first Asian player to play at a massive club would be an achievement in itself.

Oh of course bud. No bloody idea what could happen. I was just sticking my nose where it doesn't belong & then got a bit carried away after my opening sentence.

Ji-Sung Park played for Manchester Utd at the peak of their powers, winning a Champions League and World Club Cup. Just because they are a mess right now doesn't mean they aren't up there as one of the biggest clubs in the world, they were probably #1 when he was there.

The best thing about all this: Son is considered a bigger star now despite only playing for lowly Tottenham.

Of course the big Spanish clubs and maybe Bayern would be a threat, and if they could win over his father we could be in trouble. However Levy would have to be convinced too and would probably price them out of interest.

I'm unsure being a star is as important to him as trophies, we might need to win something soon enough to match players' ambitions, including Son.

Fucking love Sonny. Gives everything on the pitch, plays with a smile on his face and appears to be be a great character in the dressing room. I wouldn't sell him for 100m. I think he loves playing for Spurs and seems incredibly popular with the other players. Toss up between him and Sissoko for player of the year.

Us Spurs fans are so predictable. You just know when a player is in good form when his player thread descends in to an argument about wanting to leave

Agreed! I can't believe some of the drivel I've read since clicking onto this thread.

We are in the semi finals of the Champions League, 3rd in the table and he signed a new five year contract in the summer. I honestly think some fans are addicted to fear that they have to talk about or expect bad or worst case scenarios. Just enjoy yourself and enjoy this team FFS

The usual culprit negative as always unfortunately...

How he has missed out being in the PFA team of the season I will never know.
Both Sterling and Mane are having great seasons. Hard to complain about choosing those two. They were probably more consistent through the season and are still fighting for the title. Which of course doesn't mean they are better players than Son. But I do think that was a fair choice.

I think Son is having a better season than Augero. I would have Sonny in ahead of him.

I find this one interesting as Son is the first non-academy player we've had since VDV, who I truly believe loves playing for the club.

I still think Son is a bit too streaky for player of the year.

Don't get me wrong, he'd had a great season but Sissoko for me is the epitome of consistency all season.

For me Son still has too many anonymous games over the course of the full season.
