Just rewatched and forgot he started the first goal. Constant danger that man. He'll get his goals soon enough.Look at the replays he played massive roles in setting both of our goals tonight, and started looking like the son of old. He just needs to net that first one and his confidence will be back with a bang.
I mean he's scored 21 & 18 in the last two seasons. Don't think Son is the problem here.
He constantly created dangerous situations today. Sure he had a few mistakes but I'm not going to fault a guy who takes 5 or 6 shots in a game, constantly beat his man, was a part of the build up for Kanes goal and started the attack that put Lamela on goal to finish them for a third goal.
I didn't mean it by any sort of metric or analytics. Just that I think his style does more good than harm. If he doesn't try these shots we don't get the goals against West Ham, Dortmund, etc.Yeah, my point was that you were saying that we benefit more often than not from hisselfishnessdesire to score, and I'm really not too sure about that being the case.
The second part of your post indicates that we do benefit a lot from those moments in which Son's focuses on playing his team mates instead of simply looking to score a blinder, so maybe he should try finding some more balance and realize that a lot of the times in which he's trying a low percent shot at the goal, that there may be a team mate which is at a better position than him to score.
I love Son, but we all know he has been quite inconsistent during his time with us, and there's definitely room for improvement with his approach to the game.

Thought there'd be more chat in this thread. An in-form and scoring Son will make such a difference to our form. Huge to get him firing again.
I think the team would get a huge boost if Kane was swapped out for Son. There was a period two seasons ago when Kane was out for a prolonged period and Son absolutely shone - I think we would see something similar. It was so refreshing to see pace and quick feet leading the line tonight. So sad that Kane's place in the team sheet is basically engraved in stone regardless of his current form - lest we depreciate his value!
If son gets in to hot form he has to come in for Kane. Never thought I'd say it but not feeling kane at the moment. There was a time he was my favourite player in this team. I agree with what you said before about a couple seasons ago, our play was different more fluid but not sure about more effective. I'd like to see kane rested for a bit or go back to the kane that used to pull wide ut far up the pitch and rotate with the wide forwards.
Kane dropping back the whole time this season pretty much is THE problem as far as our attacking fluidity is concerned. Worrying that Poch hasn’t fixed that yet.
Do you not think Kane dropping deeper was because we had no creativity in Eriksen or Alli?
Yeah true, I think it’s a bit of both. Kane is still a bit caught up in playing the England Harry Kane role, and is actively coming back looking for the ball even when he really should just be getting into space up front. Another part of it is he him and Moura are not clicking in a particularly productive way. Combine that with Eriksen’s iffy form...
But I think the root of the issue is the constantly changing team dynamic, and a key part of that lack of fluidity is coming from Kane’s positioning. He’s trying to fix problems that aren’t his to fix.
This could be great news for us and Sonny2 weeks off for him during this international break He really deserves a mini-vacay and I'm sure we'll start to see the best of him in December leading into the New Year.
