Unless he signs a new contract I still think he ill be sold.
Seems to be zero interest from any of the handful of clubs that could afford him abroad. I think they've all decided they'll wait until next summer and see what happens then.

Mate you are crazy thinking Sanchez is on par with Toby. You either haven't watched Toby at all the last few seasons or you are massively over rating Sanchez. I am a huge fan of Sanchez but he is still raw. Toby is the finished article.
Sanchez was left hopelessly exposed by the inadequacies of Sissoko and Aurier yesterday. We were lucky that their lack of discipline and awareness on the right didn't cost us the game. I would like to see us go with a back 3 of Toby, Sanchez and Vertonghen and Tripps and Rose at WB.

And, you my fine friend, are rating Toby, on what he was year ago. There is nothing you saw of him last spring, or in the WC, to suggest he can still play at that level - because he hasn't played at the level since he went down with injury.

Sanchez - right now - is better than Toby - right now. And Sanchez offers attributes that complement either Jan or Toby in terms of his pace, and ability in the air.

And, it is asking for trouble to play Vertonghen - at 31, and Toby, who has missed substantial time in 3 of the last 4 seasons with injuries, in a high line defense. Its a pulled hamstring waiting to happen. There is no Walker to the rescue anymore.

As I have said, I am happy to have Toby compete with Davinson and Jan and let Poch sort it out on the training pitch. I think Toby will get plenty of minutes, but I think he will slot in for Jan more often than he slots in for Davinson. (And before anyone gasps at sitting Jan - I think he will play fewer matches this year in an effort to stay fit for the bigger matches - something in the order of 35 total matches.)

I agree, I can still picture Poch playing that with Dier and Wanyama at CM. Too play a back 3 you need a deep plying playmaker in CM.
IIRC we've played the back 3 most effectively with Wanyama and Dembélé in CM. This works well because they both like to hunt and destroy rather than sit, leading to us winning the ball very high up the pitch and overwhelming our opponents.

Disappointing yesterday that when we were all over the place at the back in the second half that Poch didn't bring him on.

Mate, brining on a CB midway through a game is more likely to destabilize the defense than support it. I think its good Poch didn't do that.

Starting with Aurier is more likely to do that. I think it's bad Poch did that

PSG signed another CB today so can’t see them going for a defender now

Like against Newcastle. We only picked up 3 points..... Cost us the game. :cautious:

And Aurier put a lovely cross in for one of our goals while Sissoko would have had a goal bar some cracking keeping, but hey...

The whole team was sluggish (understandably as half of it had only been back at the training ground for a few days!) yet we still won against a clearly pumped Newcastle team away - scapegoatsareus.com.

PSG just signed another CB from Schalke. That gives them 4 first teamers. That also means Boateng won't be going there, leaving him without a destination from Bayern. Another spot that won't be interested in Toby. I just really can't envision him not at the club for the remainder of the season at this point.

Didn't cost us anything against Newcastle though, did they? We won and have 3 points.

We pretty much snuck in and stole 3 points and still managed to nearly get caught and take a few blows on the way out.
Against a team widely expected to struggle and apparently in less good shape than us (subjective as to whether we're in any way in bad shape)

We had a few key players come back with no pre season, and a few others didn't play. We won and got 3 points.

Newcastle though in a worse state than us in terms of where they would finish would have been in a better position than us for the first game of the season.
