Not sure how a Belgian news outlet would know Poch's intentions tbh, if it was from Toby's side then i'd put more faith in the story.
And the story doesn't even mention anything about a new offer anyway, so i'm not sure where 90min.com are even getting that bit from.

Id love it to happen though
Haha just did the translate it literally says nothing about a new contract. Good lord:

For hosanna messages it is too early, but Maurizio Pochettino seems to keep a word. "Everyone starts from scratch, even those who want to leave", said the Argentinian after the closing of the transfer market. Despite hardly any confidence in Toby Alderweireld, because he absolutely wanted to go this summer, he gives his defender opportunities for the time being. Third match of the season, second place in a row and because of his excellent performance the Red Devil may also remain. Pochettino is not the type that quickly forgets, but in the absence of reinforcements this summer, he may not be any different. He is tight in the back. And Davinson Sánchez, who in the first half of the year preferred Alderweireld (29) after his refusal to sign, struggles with his body. Alderweireld got and grabbed his chance. In the pecking order he is higher than expected earlier.

HLN are very close to the Belgian players, Kristof Terreur especially.

Haven't seen the article and you can't always trust how these articles get twisted but it's promising signs. Edit: point proven above...

I know they are but thats my point though...the story isn't from the Belgian side, it's from Poch's side.
Regardless, it's probably bollocks anyway.

Promising comments from him today, would be even better if he signed a new deal though.

He just playing the game imo. If he wanted to stay he would have signed the original contract he asked for.

Yep. Just running down his contract to this summer so he can leave for the clause and probably trouser higher wages.

Nothing wrong with that if it is his plan
1. The club knowingly agreed to the clause when we signed him 3.5 yrs ago
2. He has been a major part of us qualifying for the CL over the course of the last 3 years.
3. He's not solely responsible for our qualification but we have gained financially as a result thereof.
4. This 2nd last point is decisive.... If we qualify again at the end of this season the future financial rewards will be huge and losing out on 15 million extra in transfer fees worth it.
5. IF he doesn't resign and leaves we recoup what we paid and all his wages paid over the 4 yr period.

Hopefully we would be able to find common ground and he signs a new deal. If not its a win-win situation.

Not sure if this has been brought up anywhere else, but just saw this ESPN piece :-

Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld plays without a badge against Liverpool

After months of speculation over his future, Toby Alderweireld once again found himself the centre of debate among Tottenham fans during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Indeed, it was noted that the Belgium defender played the entire game without a badge on his Spurs shirt, with several supporters left wondering if it was a cryptic protest at the club's refusal to let him leave over the summer.
Oddly, reporter Alasdair Gold claimed that Alderweireld was sent out onto the Wembley pitch with a fully-badged shirt for both the first and second half, yet still somehow played without the famous cockerel on his chest.
Of course, rather than a coded message to the outside world, it's altogether more likely to have been a manufacturing error with the shirt, or perhaps an emergency spare brought in at late notice.
But where's the fun in that?

_

Has anyone got an idea what happened here, cos this looks a little strange.

Probably just a mishap with the kits but I'm sure everyone will read too much into it.

I think it shows how shite the quality of the kits are this season. I was in Nike in London on Friday and the quality is so poor and the variances between the stadium and elite are huge. Maybe with Toby having an issue it will highlight it

If his long-term future isn’t here I personally wouldn’t want to alienate Sanchez by playing Alderweireld instead of him.

If a back three play him back a back four we want to be playing players who are with us longer term (hopefully).
