Bailly is a good player but injury prone. Inconsistent. I'd rather try to find another CB for the money.

Didn’t want to start a transfer page as the only links are the Express and HITC...

Mentioning of a swap deal with Utd for Eric Bailly, who I believe Arsenal have been watching and who is valued by Utd at £30m-ish...what are the thoughts regarding this??

I for one would not turn this move down...like Sanchez, Bailly is a physical presence and a dominant force in the air...but also like Sanchez, he can be erratic and has a mistake in him.

I was mega jealous when Utd signed him for £30m a few years back, as I thought he was a beast both at Espanyol and then Villereal, however he has been a touch patchy at Manure.
On one side he put in man of the match performances in his early days, was a Utd POTM and was in the Europa League team of the tournament the season they beat Ajax in the final, along with a league cup medal and an AFCON winners medal alongside that.
But on the other hand he had a 3 month injury this year, and has been a part of a Utd defence that has been simply woeful (whether or not that has been down to him is speculative at best)...

If Toby is so so intent on moving for money, then Utd is the place, he can walk away from this great project into Europa League Football and a toxic dressing room...I think getting EB in exchange is much better than money imo as you have a potentially class centre back under the right coach.

If we say Vertonghen has 2 years tops left, that will take Bailly to 27, Sanchez to 24/25 and Foyth to 23, bring In another player at Foyths age, you’re looking at a well gifted defence both physically and technically, who will hopefully have a wealth of experience by then to give us a truly elite defence...

Just my opinion, open to constructive feedback and a discussion...

Honestly i would keep Toby for those 2 years as he offers more. But i hear you on the succession planning and the type if player EB is.

I just cant comprehend what Toby could have done that even after the season he has had and the quality he possesses that something cannot be worked out.

It is what it is but he has been a mainstay in this team this season and one of the only ones who hasnt been injured which is ironic given that some were concerned that he is injury proned.

Lets hope it comes out afterwards.

I'm hoping we win the CL... He and Poch smoke the peace pipe... Levy thinks of the greater good and offers him what he's worth. I Want Toby for 3 more years and Vertonghen for another 2 years as well.

Bailly is an international teammate of Serge's, So could spark up a good defensive connection, Haven't seen enough of him unfortunately to make a call on if he'd be a good fit.

We've had ITK on what happened. He wanted a huge pay rise to stay, and Poch backed him and got Levy to agree. The Toby or his agent reneged on that and demanded even more, at which point Poch understandably went ballistic.

Something along those lines.

2?! Man City roasted by Sterling, ManU pass straight to Pogba for the goal at Wembley, Liverpool let Mane in behind him, Wolves mistakes directly leading to 2 goals. Thats just off the top of my head.

Yeah but what about his cool and calm finish against Hugo at the bridge?

I find Bailly to be particularly terrible. Hoping that if we sell Toby it's Joachim Andersen as the replacement.

Except for the fact that we are linked with him, I dont think there is any solid enough reasons to be optimistic yet. He is 22 and not even a Danish international yet. He will play in U21 this summer again. He could be a great talent. If we sign him, he is probably one for the future or at the minimum, might take a year to get adjusted to the league. I certainly dont see him taking over Toby yet.

There's 2 sides to that story, perhaps that version might be true....

Toby or his team might have a different story on what actually happened.

"I'm going to say the same thing that I've been saying for the past couple of years,” Alderweireld said when asked about his future.

“The only focus is Spurs, because of this focus I think I had a good season as well. I have one year left on my contract, so in my head, I will play for Spurs next season."

How does one read this? Is he going to sign a new contract.....or is he running his contract down?

Just a standard meaningless comment. Basically just saying I’m a spurs player so as it stands I’ll be playing for spurs next season. He almost certainly won’t be.

He has a year left on his contract so he will be at Spurs unless told otherwise. I don't think he will sign another contract or one will actually even be offered.
