Robbie Savage has just said that he doesn't think Toby is world class and that of all the premiership defenders, only John Stones has the potential to be world class.

No words.

We've had to deal without Lloris, Rose, Walker, and Toby already this season yet still have the best defensive record.

This is the best defensive unit (starting five + subs) I have ever known at Spurs and I suspect we'd have to go back to 60/61 to better it.
We conceded 55 in 42 in 60-61. Our defence wasn't outstanding. We've a better defence now than we've probably ever had.

When we got fifth a few seasons back we had the fifth best strikeforce and fifth worst defence. Southampton had the second best defence in the league that season

When we signed Toby we had the best defence in the league and Southampton were around mid-table

Best defender in the league and the most underrated too.

Although Southampton have a great replacement in Van Dijk they miss Toby the most out of all the lads that left

To be fair, even though it was 55, it was the second lowest amount conceded that season.
I guess defending wasn't particularly high on any teams agenda in those days.

Van Dijk has been excellent this season. He will end up at a very top club in the coming years.

Everyone should listen coming from a former world class midfielder.

Considering people initially thought that he was out for the season then I'd say that's pretty good going.
who thought he would be out for the season? When it first happened Poch was, nothing on the scan, nothing to worry about etc.

When Toby went down I honestly thought he had done his cruciate and would be out for the rest of the season - even if it ends up him being injured for a couple of months that is still better than what could have happened.

Cruciate?I thought it was quite obviously something in his thigh.

I thought he'd just had a painful knock on the knee cap - equivalent of funny elbow
