Interesting comments from poch when asked about Toby
“He played like a different person against Newport, and the decision was to be out of the squad”
Hopefully just lost in translation a bit

Where have you seen this quote because I can't find it anywhere.

Edit - Actually, I've just found it - and you've misquoted him lol - he said 'He played like different players against Newport, and the decision was be out of the squad.'. He was just giving a basic answer to the question because he was annoyed they kept on asking about Toby. He's doing the same thing that he did when Rose came back from injury earlier in the season.

Hopefully this is because he is still coming back to fitness. Pochettino often likes to bring players back slowly with specific plans with regards to training alone etc. If he doesn’t plan to have him on the bench in Turin it makes sense. Added to his annoyance at the journo’s question yesterday though, I’m slightly nervous.

Something is obviously going on. Toby has spoken to the media declaring himself match fit for both Liverpool and Arsena and been left out of the squad on both occasions. Given how Poch also reacted to questions about him in yesterday's post-match conference, can't help but assume the worst.

Is this the beginning of the end for toby? I hope not.
I think perhaps poch is using this comeback from a long layoff as leverage for him to sign his new contract? If he wqnt to be part of this journey then commit, otherwise we are doing just fine without you.

Hopefully it's more of a coming back from injury absence rather than a Kyle walker style absence (i.e kicking up a fuss)
Why would it have anything to do with contract talks? Annoyed that he hasn’t been offered a gigantic package so doesn’t want to play? Doesn’t make sense.
Much more likely that it’s down to injury flaring up again after Newport game I reckon, or that Poch feels he needs a bit longer before his full return.

Based on Poch's angry response on a Toby question, I can only see the obvious answer to be the bridge is burnt. His clause of 25m kicks in summer of 2019. I hope we can repair the damage & get the deal done. If not, we should not wait.

We have to sell him in summer to outside PL and get someone else. We should never give a chance to another PL club to buy him directly from us.

Surprised at some of the comments in this thread. It would be a tragedy to lose Toby! He's one of the best defenders in the world and a squad without him is massively weakened. We have to do everything we can to keep him. I will be devastated if he leaves.

More likely, if he does not sign a new deal, then Poch is moving on without him - Sanchez is the new #1 at that position.

I hope its injury-related, but its an odd situation, given that he seemed back to full training several weeks ago, and has only managed a Cup performance in a position that is not very physically taxing (compared to other positions).

Bumped into him at the Pick n Mix at Enfield Cineworld a few weeks back. Should have asked him then, think he would have appreciated it. Apologies for letting the side down.
