Some doughnuts on here, honestly. Blaming Levy for things that’s not his fault. Why don’t you blame Poch as well who Levy backs all the way. If you don’t know the details, don’t slag our chairman off. And for the record, I am not a BsoDL. And Doh rating, what for FFS?!

I have not heard neither that Toby has signed a secret contract. We will soon find out.
The most important thing I'm taking from all of this is the fact that we seem to have a manager that levy is happy to support on all matters. That trumps all talk about players potentially leaving.

Toby's a great player but I'm not as fearful about losing him as I would be about losing Kane or even Eriksen. Poch can take a decent defender and make him great (it's his special talent) - and that's where he's going with Sanchez which is why I'm not panicking - but finding a striker to replace Kane would be an impossible task.

Well we can decide not to sell. We're on the cusp of establishing ourselves amongst the top tier now, I'd be tempted to exert some influence in that regard.

It looks weak if well sell to a competitor again, but Keeping Pochettino is ridiculously more important.
I understand the rationale of keeping him another season, but the problem is so much of what Poch has built here is about that Band of Brothers spirit amongst the squad. It only takes a few people not invested for that spirit to crumble.

I think Poch is a big enough influence to go again if that happens.

But keeping people who are not invested is against his collective approach. Maybe it’s soemthint he’s going to have to modify going forward, but I can’t see him wanting players not prepared to put everything in for him.

The potential flip-side to that is the Band Of Brothers spirit could equally be potentially affected by the remaining players seeing another one of our important players leave the club, following Walker's sale last summer, and questioning the ambition of the club as a result. Not saying that would necessarily happen, but I think that you can make a case that letting him go might cause just as much unrest as making him stay.

If the club didn’t have ambition, why would they spend £40 million on a defender?

Far less damaging to keep a player that doesn't want to be here. We should just be honest with the players. If you want to leave we will sell you but only if a club matches our valuation. If they do then we should shake hands and wish them the best. We then reinvest the money. We should pay them as much as we can within budget.

I have no angry feelings toward walker. He did what was best for him. He could have maybe waited or been a bit more polite about it though. If he'd have said "look boss, i've had a great time here but i have heard the manchester clubs are interested in me. It would be an opportunity to move closer to my family and they can offer more than spurs. I thought i'd tell you now so that you can look for a replacement if needed but while i'm here my focus is 100% on spurs". Then i think poch would have said fair enough. He was a player himself.

Just playing devil's advocate. Trying to make the point that if Toby is allowed to leave because he's not happy with the money or the chances of winning something at Spurs, it might give one or two of the remaining players pause to consider the same questions.

if Toby has re-signed we'd be preaching it from the rooftops

I was torn between giving a winner and funny rating....

A poster on here recently said we are stronger with him than we are without him and it is so true. My one comfort is that Poch is our manager, he and his team will figure this out and we will be stronger for it. Sanchez and Aurier will be better in their second season too. This will mitigate any potential loss of Toby.

We are such a small club that can’t afford to pay the best defender of the world’s salary.
Jan and Toby guarded us to the least goal conceded last two seasons.
Ffs, please deduct Sissoko salary to make up for Toby request. Fuck Levy, That’s the reason we will never the league.

And who's salary do we deduct to pay for kanes payrise? Eriksens? Sons? Dele's? Soon our squad would be looking a bit light.

Great CB, but if he truly wants to go fair enough, sell him abroad and get best possible price.

Selling to a domestic rival, after selling Walker, is fucking small time.

We've looked formidable without him, but selling to a rival is not acceptable now.
You cant choose where you sell, that is the problem with that.

Really hope that we offer him the terms he is looking for. The club wants to be a big team and needs to reward the players as such.

Appreciate that it will be a domino effect as others will want parity but unfortunately to continue competing at the top like we have over the last few seasons the club needs to pay a bit more.

Only because there was a market for them to go abroad, we just can't ring up Real Madrid and force them to buy Toby, doesn't work like that.
Yes, but on the flipside, we refused offers from premier league clubs.

Toby will get interest from clubs outside the Premier League.

That was my point.
