Well yeah, we've been negotiating with him for a year and a half. There's only 3 months left of the season left so they either get it right on the next round of talks or he's gone.

EDIT - unless we really are offering him peanuts, but I can't believe we're that stupid.

Yeah not sure it works like that but anyway I the takeaway from this is just have some patience and wait and see what the outcome is.

Wages are a part of it, but he also wants to have a chance of silverware. Our expectant summer acquisitions ‘may’ be causing him to reconsider his stance.

So he knows who are likely summer signings are and he and his agent/s are keeping the secret. Unlike agents to keep secrets.

Not sure if you can answer, but does winning the FA Cup count as silverware? Or are the players just talking about winning the league and Champions League titles?

If he wants to leave us for silverware, then it's either Man City, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern.

Certainly you couldn't say anyone in England bar City is more likely to win trophies than us.

He's very supportive of the guys on social media, even before all of this started. I can't see him leaving if I'm honest! Seems like a good guy.

So was Walker.

Something doesn’t sit right with the Toby saga... like pulling teeth getting to the bottom of his injury and contract saga’s. The lack of readily available information as per Walker doesn’t imply things are rosey and that he’s going to commit his future to the club.

I know it's great to have 20/20 hindsight but I wonder if you'd care to revise your initial assessment of our Toby...?

:sneaky:

If you check my post history on Fazio you’d know that was a joke.

With regards to the price it would seem old Daniel agreed seeing as we got him for £11m.

Do you honestly think the tweets on his account are written by him? The players twitter accounts are all covered by the same person/people in the PR department, id be surprised if they even had the passwords.

Was it one of auriers pr guys who said blanc was a faggot and sucked ibras cock?
They have their own accounts. Their agent and maybe the club might advise them in what to say sometimes but it will be theirs.

Yep, unfortunately i'm inclined to agree.

Plus points are that we will get a good fee for him and we've had adequate time to line up a top quality replacement.

Not in any way doubting what Hercules has said because he's been nothing but spot on, and of course any info is greatly appreciated (and in this case by "expectant signings" has already convinced me to get Spurs CL champions 2019 tattooed on my back)

But, would the club be sharing their transfer plans with the playing staff, or is he just getting his inklings from media stories?

It would be a weird tactic to tell a player during contract negotiations that we'll pay you slightly less than you're worth, but we are signing XYZ in the summer.

Might be wrong, but wasn't that on a friends periscope video?
