Not speaking for Beece, but personally I'd still be worried if we had to play Foyth against a big, strong physical striker. I expect him to grow bigger and stronger in the years to come, but if we had to chuck him into games in the near future then honestly I'd be worried about him getting bullied if he came up against one of the league's more physical strikers.

To be clear it's not a problem that I don't think will be solved naturally as he gets older, but at this moment his slight build is a bit of a concern for me if we had to play him regularly in the first team.

I don't think he's slight, mate.

Good build that allows strength and speed.

He's got aggression and can handle himself.

He might have to get used to certain players, having never played against them before, but I think he'll rise to the challenges given to him in the PL.

I have been very reliably informed that we will replace Toby, and Poch wants a very strong centre three, with another quality option that does not include, and rely on Dier. Foyth is not seen to be ready for that role. Forget CCV? as we will listen to offers.

This is why Poch being given more power over transfers worries me. We do not need another CB, and Dier should definitely be relied on.

It's a viable LCB to cover Vertonghen which I hope we're looking for, not so much replacing Alderweireld, more balancing the blend of our CB options for next season.

Pochettino... has been backed over the way in which he is dealing with Toby Alderweireld’s contract stand-off.

Alderweireld was left out of the squad for the trip to Chelsea, despite having been declared fit and played for Belgium, but Tottenham are fully supportive of Pochettino’s approach – even if it could weaken their negotiating position over the defender who is expected to be sold.

Paris Saint-Germain set to match Toby Alderweireld's £10m-per-season wage demands after new contract talks with Tottenham collapse
  • Paris Saint-Germain are willing to match Toby Alderweireld's wage demands
  • The Tottenham defender wants a contract close to £200,000-per-week
  • Alderweireld, 29, also want a five-year deal which is something Spurs won't offer
  • Manchester United are also keen on the Belgium international this summer

Paris Saint-Germain are willing to match Toby Alderweireld's £10million-per-season wage demands to lure him to France.

The Belgium international is set to leave Tottenham this summer after talks over a new contract collapsed.

Alderweireld wants a deal close to £200,000-per-week - nearly double the club's current wage ceiling. He also wants a five-year deal, something Tottenham are unwilling to offer because the defender is 29-years-old.

Manchester United and PSG are keen on Alderweireld, but the French giants are ready to move to the front of the queue by indicating they are prepared to offer the centre-half the deal he wants.

Mauricio Pochettino has already told Alderwieireld he can leave this summer and left the matter in the hands of chairman Daniel Levy.

Fine by me - £40m+ and off to Paris, out of the PL. Happy to keep doing business with them tbh.

10m a year and a 5yr deal makes it easy to see why Spurs aren't budging. Shame, but there's a sign up or ship out mentality. If he is to go, this is up there with the best of options.

Imagine being tasked with finding a toby replacement who is actually better then him. Almost mission inpossible

Totally the opposite for me, I don't think foyth is quite ready, although extremely talented and I have never liked the idea of having a first teamer as back up for another position (as with dier). One injury resulting in effectively two changes doesn't sit well, OK in emergencies. All for another leftie, a Jan successor as such.

We already have a Toby replacement in Sanchez. What we should be looking for is a talented LCB who can learn from Vertonghen.

Hasn't it been noted that while Dier predominately plays as a holding midfielder and prefers it, Poch sees him as a CB long term. A very good one too.

Another CB suggests Dier is going to stay as a midfield option at least until its time to replace Jan (which may not be for a while given how good Jan is). Moreover it looks like Foyth is earmarked for that.

PSG have to balance the books before even thinking about buying anyone. Knives are out and ffp 2.0 is coming.

Think lazy journalism.

Maybe they just think that Spurs dealing with PSG over Aurier and Lucas hints at a good relationship.

Re FFP. Some reports say the deficit as of Oct 2017 was 70m Euros, before selling Lucas.

Some players will leave - Ben Arfa (free), Pastore talking up a move to Serie A, Draxler possibly, Trapp has been linked with Liverpool, Di Maria is mentioned as well, and Guedes already on loan at Valencia (but maybe not to them, the fee is high..). Let's say it's around 45m now. Mbappe's fee probably isn't included yet as it's a loan. They have players there to sell.

I can imagine selling Toby abroad is Spurs' preferred option if he is to go. No idea how realistic it is, depends if PSG have deals lined up to give themselves some breathing space.

We already helped them by buying aurier and lucas. We can still help them by buying draxler or rabiot or veratti

Players come and go, Toby has been great for us but he's not the first footballer to be badly advised ...

Totally agree with you about Poch being in control is a good thing, but wanted to point out Toby is not probably being badly advised. Look at Walker, Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick. All left us to double their income and also all won league titles and Champions Leagues (Walker in the process of doing so probably). Realistically Toby has 3 years of his career left. I have no doubt he will go to a club who have a great chance of winning multiple titles and CLs and earn more than we can pay. He has no emotional association with us and is in effect a mercenary. It’s a shame but it’s true. We need to cope with this and ‘buy smart’ ... Sanchez being one great example, and Moura hopefully another.
