People need to cut him some slack. He's not a Spurs fan, he's a pro . If they don't give it their all when playing then they deserve all the stick they get otherwise I don't see any problem in him trying to get as much as he can. Even DL who loves THFC apparently gave himself £6M last year.

Yep,earn what you can, win what you can when it's your last prime contract. Walker did, he's much richer and now actually has winners medals .

It's shit but that's where we are as a club. We'll probably run into the same problem in 2 seasons with with eriksen now he's 26

Honestly don’t think we can get caught up in this too much

Been a selling club my whole life - only difference now is players join us with a view to developing and giving it a few seasons vs in the past jumping ship asap - until we pay top $ and regularly win things players will want “another challenge” at a certain point in their career

Toby wasn’t a starter at Atletico, season at Southampton and then with us - he’s never tasted the proper big time so if we sell him overseas to someone with a genuine chance of winning the CL fair enough - that said on this seasons showing we are not far off but closing the last bit of the gap always v hard

As much as i have the hump that Toby is gonna walk i dont really blame him we are on the ascendency but cannot committ to the wages/trophy expectation that these pros want to go out with and if i take my Spurs hat off i probably would command the same in my field of work. I was pissed with Walker but when i heard the boos on Saturday i was disappointed and realised that he gave the best part of a decade to us and as a pro who has worked their arse off all their life to achieve something wanted to actually go out and get it when the opportunity arose, the premier league medal he has proves him right. I believe we will get there in the end and will be able to offer what the top players desire but we aren’t there yet all we can ask for is maximum effort whilst wearing the shirt and yesterdays performance from Toby shows just that so whatever his decision is i respect that (Unless he joins the scum (Red, Blue, scouse or manc) then i will burn effigies of him and never wear hair gel again.

Either way COYS, onwards and upwards.

It`s basically impossible for us to "get there" without having top class players. It`s one thing to be competitive, another one to win.

Please let’s use. Bit of common here. Citeh’s, Yanited’s, PSG, Barca & Madrid, he is guaranteed (as good as) triophies. Are we? Possible, but not like the others, and he has one last contract to get him there. The guy is not a kid. If he was 25/26, he would be signing, or signed already.
i would say madrid, barca, psg and bayern. the competition in PL is so, so severe

I think getting there will be dependent on our off field success and we seem to be heading in the right direction to be able to compete with fees and wages.

I think we'll gamble on the extension. Have him for at least one more year.

Agreed would make sense and selling a 30yr old for 25mill the following year isn’t a bad deal. Will Poch accept Toby in his set-up though knowing Toby wants out?

If we take Poch at his word, he's missed out thus far due to fitness and form.

ITK and papers are saying there's a fallout but could be blown out of proportion. Rose was welcomed back, so why not Toby. Depends what excactly has gone on.

Assuming Toby is worth 40M in current market, having him for one more year on current wages and then selling him for 25M basically is like loaning him for a year for 15M fee

I think im OK with that

Good idea in theory but you're gonna be pissed when Liverpool put in a £25m bid and he agrees to go there.

I won't be surprised to see us take out the option on the extension even if it means losing him for £25m in two seasons time. I've also seen some arguing pretty strongly that the release clause isn't as clear cut as has been made out, so who knows.

Pretty sure heard the release clause only kicks in last 2 weeks of window. So we could still get £35-40m next summer if s club wants to assure they get him.

Why would a club bid more in the summer when they can get him for cheap at the end of the window?

Has Rose really been welcomed back though? To me, Poch has tried to kill the story by having him around, but has totally lost faith in him.

To Poch, his squad togetherness is everything. It's like putting together a team to go the South Pole. You don't bring guys who are going to be hiding away their own stash of food, or have their own helicopter come in and get just them if things get tough.

If we were to keep Toby for another season and Liverpool were the team he agrees to go to we may as well all give up. We should never be losing one of our star players to Liverpool.

I agree. Sell this summer to PSG, or whoever stumps up abroad, and then throw it all at Ajax for De Ligt, outbidding any others who come sniffing. If Levy did this, I think we'd all be happy.

To make sure they get him. If they wait 3 or 4 clubs could offer the £25m. If they offer £35m early we may accept and they’d fight off the competition.
