When we sold Walker to City we should have insisted on Sancho being part of that deal. We should have told them to forget about it unless Sancho would be allowed to join us.

If we are considering this then we should be insisting on Martial and everything should be on OUR terms, otherwise we don't talk.
Not getting Sancho was a big error. I know we tried to sign him after the fact, but considering how good he is looking already for BVB and that we had a player City really wanted we should have put our foot down. When Sancho does leave he will go for mega money.

What if Sancho didn't want to come to Spurs and Walker wanted out regardless - what are the realistic options, put guns to their heads ?

ITK suggested he was very keen to come. I assume Walker wanted out, but I would be surprised if City were the only team in for him, maybe they offered more then the others, but considering our transfer business I’m not exactly sure the money gained was well invested.

As great as our finances are, I'm trilled that the club has stopped this nonchalant attitude of throwing money out the window by benching players for eternity. The last player, I believe, was Adebayor, and it did my head knowing that we couldn't get targets we wanted, yet spent money on non-operative players. It's actually not a bad thing to sell players, although it's less of a good thing to sell players from the starting 11. However, incoming money for players means that there is outgoing money to spend on players, something the club is very good at balancing. They have almost never retained a large profit from player sales, not even the cash for Bale. So even when baring Kyline Walker in mind, if Alderweireld is not going to play, sell him to the highest bidder, fetch top money, churn that money and never look back.

“Baring Kyline”. The mind boggles but I’ll bear it in mind.

I don't think we'd struggle to find interest abroad. If he tries to hold out for a move to one of our rivals, it might not be the worst tactic to reject all PL offers and then put him back on the European market in January.

Exactly, this isn't Football Manager. Seems to me that we made Sancho an offer as did a few other clubs and he chose to go to Dortmund... Anyway, if we do sell him let's hope Toby goes to Barca or Madrid and doesn't strengthen a Prem rival.

The Goat seems to think he's Barca bound. That's OK by me. Players have the power and if they want out there's not much you can do. I can see Dier dropping into a back 3 and us spending money on a progressive CM. People seem to think a back 3 is defensive, but IMO it frees up the wingbacks to push on and also be more effective pressing. I prefer it to a back 4.

Dier is too error prone at CB.

We got Aurier and Lucas for the walker money. Neither have had a chance to prove themselves properly, but id say that is some damn fine business....Although walker has been missed to an extent...

But by all accounts poch was happy to sell walker for 50m

Of course even if Toby goes to Barca, we'll still be accused of being a selling club. Unlike Pool when they sold them Coutinho. If TA goes there, I can live with that and good money. Better than another PL club.
