I wouldn’t.

I know we can’t compete financially with the Manchester clubs and I accept that, but if we as fans and a club even want to talk about the possibility of winning the league then we can’t continue to sell key first team players to direct title rivals.
I dont really get this argument tbh, when youre talking about clubs with virtually unlimited spending resources it doesnt make much difference imo.

If we'd refused to sell Walker to City and sold him for less abroad, would that've made any difference to City walking the league?, not a jot imo.
They'd have just gone and bought the next best RB on their list, of very similar quality to Walker.

And then you've got the issue of whether the player even wants to go abroad, what happens if the player is going to get 50-75% more wages from an English club than he would abroad?..like it or not, the player holds all the cards.

When will we fucking learn? Man utd finished 4 points ahead of us and we are allowing their weakest position to be one of their strongest? Terrible.

The club hold all the cards. Clubs are weathy enough to keep players and not sell them. Alderweireld has 2 years left on his contract

Is it really that much different than if we sell Toby to Barça, and Barça turn around and sell Umtiti to Man United?

Don't be so naive, Toby gets to decide where he goes, like it or lump it.
I don't know about that. I remember Modric wanting to join Chelsea. Was desperate to join them. We held out, made it difficult for both sides, in the end he went to RM. I know Walker joined City, but he's not a world class player, certainly not in the same stratosphere as Modric. So we were happy to let him go there.

I have nothing to base this on, but I do feel he could yet stay with us and sign a new contract. Wishful thinking...maybe.

Exactly, its about getting the best possible return for the club.

Surely it’s about getting to a position where we are able to retain our best players and we don’t have make rivals stronger.

Madrid and Barca for the pure glamour maybe be the execution but
Rarely does the money received result in a better replacement than the player sold.

We should not sell to Utd, end of. Still unhappy City got Walker but I guess that proves our position right now. Kyle is now a double winner on double wages whilst we have aurier and cash.

We have to step up and out of this feeder cycle.

He is posting on Instagram that he is on vacation in Greece so unless he signed yesterday and we're sitting on it I am guessing he's enjoying some 'me time' before it's flee time.

What like Liverpool who regularly sell their best players or Man United who had to sell Ronaldo ?

Are we ? Do you have ITK on that ?
Yes and No. We have ITK that he is off. We have previous ITK that he is of 3 minds - Barca, Manchester, and ??? (Presumably re-sign)

My guess is based on today's ITK, Poch has had a post-season conversation with Toby and Rose, and agreed to part ways - which means United are still in the frame as a destination for Toby.

30 next season, bad hamstring tear.

Yes they will get a couple of good years out of him but little more than that.

If that money allows us to get De Ligt it’s as close to ideal as you can get. Vertonghen, Sanchez, De Ligt, Dier, Foyth and CCV is an awesome group of young defenders who could take us through the next decade. Led by Jan (for a few years), a player who actually wants to be here.

It’s effectively a double whammy. We strengthen them and weaken ourselves all in one go.

It’s what basically started happening to Arsenal a few years ago. I can’t think of many ( if any) teams who have won the league after selling key players to their direct rivals.

I know the players hold the cards and that rich clubs can buy quality anyway, but we don’t have to help them.
