Sorry if this has been asked, but do we know how Tobys contract extension-clause is worded? We know it is the last fortnite of the transfer window, but now the PL window doesn't match the other European windows. So, which window?
Hopefully one of windows in Levy’s Bentley so he won’t go on the Cheap. Actually wouldn’t be surprised if good old Danny boy has twisted it some way like this.

On average he did 3 per game so I assume he must have completed one of those
Where are you getting that info? Not doubting, that's just surprising. I didn't notice him really passing to anyone other than the CMs, fullbacks or Jan.

Yeah, it may be noted in the contract as specific dates, in which case it would probably be the international window. I'd rather keep him this season, and sell him abroad for 25 mill next summer, than selling him to ManU for 50 this summer.

Whoscored.com. It’s actually 3.9 average over his league appearances

As much as I like Martial, I don't think he'd be worth losing Toby to Utd for.
Same.

I remember @Hercules saying he’s off to La Liga in the RO forum, and I think it may have been @Breezer (?) who suggested he was off to Barcelona to play with Pique. Pinch of salt and all that, I know, but selling to Spain to Barca or even Madrid would be a damn sight better than letting Mourinho and United get their hands on him.

Herc seemed to change his tune, I guess things can always change. Perhaps United have been in touch with his agent and are offering him more incentives, etc.

I thought one of the plus points of selling him this window rather than when the release clause kicks in is that we have an element of control about where he goes. Hopefully all this talk of United is just paper talk & he understands we can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot by strengthening our rivals.
It isn't fair to his team mates left behind who are desperate to win trophies.
Hopefully Barca or PSG stump up a chunky 4 year deal for him & everyone can come out of this Ok.

Yeah I see that now about the three minds thing. Would suggest one of, if not both, Manc clubs have come in with a solid offer. Quite disappointing really - if we’re even entertaining the idea. I had hoped we had stopped selling to rival clubs completely, but selling Walker last season and now potentially Toby, to the two clubs who finished above us last season, doesn’t really send out the right message imo.

Bit harsh on Martial. The reason we can't just take players from our rivals is because City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea have more recourses than us.
And won’t sell to us as we’re now a serious challenge to their dynasty...
Testament to how far we’ve come on in the last five seasons though and I love it!

I say use him as Part Ex to get Bale

(or Messi)
((Some will probably say he wouldn’t fit our system though, so will have to hope Toby likes Madrid))

Manchester<Madrid < Barcelona
God, if I had a choice of where I could earn £150k a week it certainly wouldn’t be basing myself out of Manchester...

Bale, or even a central midfield option like Kovacic, or perhaps that Gomes fella from Barcelona could be potential targets we could try and get in some form of exchange. I think we’ve been linked to the Barca lad, though I don’t think he seems to be all that popular on here.

If he’s off to the Man U it ain’t about winning trophy’s unless you’re talking fa or league cup but then we have as much chance of winning those in a season as them. Their not winning anything worth shouting about any time soon either.

United won as many trophies last season as we have in 27 years.

Whether Sanchez has done a few of the long diagonal balls, or Verts has done a few, or Toby doesn't when he is injured, is completely missing the point, which is that Toby does them more often and better than anyone I've seen and we will be weaker without him than with him.
Fk all we can do about it but dont try and kid yourself we're as good or better off without him.

Just thinking about it, would City even be interested? They’ve just signed Laporte, they’ve got Stones there and Otamendi is just coming off the back of a good season. I know Kompany is hardly reliable these days, but would they look to replace him with another centre back nearing 30 with a history of injury problems? Perhaps it is just United in for him from up north?

The third mind is interesting too, could mean he is not completely against staying as it may appear. Perhaps he’s waiting to see who we may bring in first? Or perhaps it’s an option we don’t even want to think about as fans, ie Chelsea.

All ifs and maybes at this point I suppose. I guess time will tell.
