Read between the lines.

Poch: "I want de Ligt!!! You said we don't have to sell to get these deals done, so get to it."

Levy: "We can do that!"

(levy furiously attempts to sell Alderweiereld before buying de Ligt...)
Quick Poch is having dinner in Copenhagen, sell the **** quickly

If he’s going to United for that money, de ligt has to be in the bag.

If not, then it’s fucked right up

We
I think we can all agree that a healthy Toby would be one of the best in the league.

But, how would we feel if we fleece United fo £60M and Toby plays 20 matches for them next season? Good deal or bad deal?

Wishful, i share your dream but doubt it.

We have to look at it as this,

One of the best defenders in the prem
Coming to the end of his contract
29
Doesn't want to stay

All we can do is get as much money we can for him and reinvest. Yes it tastes of salt but unless you are madrid you have to learn the taste.

[Update 375] Jjetset on Martial - August 8th

"We tried our best to complete the deal but but agents were being difficult and United won't play ball."

“Yes, we didn’t sign Malcom, Zaha, Martial, Bale or anybody significant, but Anthony Georgiou has been massively impressing in training and he could potentially make the bench a few times next year”.

Look forward to ITK suggesting all was agreed for Toby to go to La Liga before United came in, offered more money and the La Liga clubs pulled out. (y)

All I'm saying is if he's going to United, I damn hope we make up for it with who we bring in.

It would be a statement of the wrong kind for us if it does happen so I really hope we'd make a statement in our favour in return.

I hate seeing our good players leave. Especially to our domestic rivals. But fuck em. We move on. We improve.

Statement statements statements. Football isn't about idealism and virtue. We bought the stinker for 15M pounds or whatever it ended up being, he has had a poor season, not only on the pitch but also off the pitch through reduced motivation. We are probably fetching 55M for him or more, for the second best player in the squad in his position after having had an abysmal season. I don't care if it were Arsenal buying him. I'll be glad to see him go, knowing that the churning of cash will bring about positive possibilities.

They probably have told us to fuck off in respect to Martial hence the rumors of £60m+ for Toby

I'm hanging on to hope they've refused to sell us Martial so we've said ok Toby will then cost you £75m. In attempt to make them cave and swap Martial for Toby. As the lets rinse Utd cos they won't sell us Martial scenario is just pathetic.

Ah comon. He's a great player that has had some injuries. He wants the best deal he can get.

Good luck to him.

As long as this is the outcome, in some cases like potentially this one we may not have the greatest of say in it. The problem we might have is how we replace, we can't afford multiple losses of players like Walker to bring in players like Aurier. I just hope there's a well thought out plan behind it if it does happen as so many times our windows seems to be full of targets that we don't quite achieve and the result is us rushing around and panic buying a bit.

He is a witless, overrated player who wouldn't have looked half as good if he didn't have the blessing of playing next to a true leader and defensive marshall. I'm not worried about selling him, in fact I welcome the cash injection.

Now if we get 60 million for Toby, and spend 70 million on de Ligt, I'd say it is a super deal. Toby won't hit the high with Manure as he did for us 2 seasons ago, so Im not that worried.

Don't look at it as a like for like. Sanches and moura for walker? I'd take that.

This would be disastrous. IF we sell him to United we are so small time. They or any of our rivals wouldn’t dream of selling us a top player. We cannot keep selling our best players to our fucking rivals.
We all know how it would go. Sell Toby to United. Chase De Ligt all summer then end up with someone like Jonny Evans on deadline day???

It's not but the fact about statements isn't just what it seems on the surface, it's the deeper effect it can have. Players at their current clubs don't want to see their best players moving to their rivals and you never know when it may have some sort of knock on effect. Just like how bringing quality, established exciting players can further prove current players they're at the right club.

I in small part agree with that. But don't act like a jealous ex boyfriend.

He played well for us and if it's over then fair enough.

I get what you're saying even though I miss Walker a lot. Sanchez has been a great signing and will continue to be. However this summer is meant to be the summer of "next level" signings and Martial is right there desperate to leave and we have a player Utd really want.
It is just ludicrous that they can get Toby but we can't get Martial.

Plus in terms of that level there isn't really that many players about we've got any chance of getting.

Back on Walker how we didn't grab Sancho is beyond me too, as Sanchez, Lucas and Sancho for Walker would've been an even better scenario.
