Be
More for the future as a successor for Verts I guess. Verts is 31 now, he isn't going on for too much longer.

Vertonghen has at least 3 more seasons left at the top level IMO.

He seems to get better and better with age.

If he's willing to stay for reasonable wages i really wish we'd just get it sorted. He's soo much better than any replacement we will get in, especially if we are struggling to get De Ligt over the line. Think our performances suffered without him last season, would be fantastic to have him back on board and fully committed.

I very much doubt it's as simple as that. Sounds like a rather foolish way to run any kind of business, let alone a football club where large egos are in abundance, an individual's sense of worth is often over inflated, and a bunch of agents are running about the place looking to ramp up earning potential at every opportunity. As for Levy and Poch, I think that Real Madrid sniffing about will shed some light on just how much they really are on the same page.

Do not think it is about egos, but about the «us» thing. Team unity and «the project» if someone thinks they are worrh more than the club, more than the team, poch will show u the door

The mother of Toby was interviewed for the Belgian newpaper Het Nieuwsblad today. Was baffled by following quote:

In the world of football, it’s all about money. That annoys me.

Someone has not read the ITK we had on her son...

This would feel like a new signing he didn’t feel part of the season just gone

he did play a big part in us topping the group of death, which kind of helped make the season pretty special along with finishing 3rd playing 38 away games.

Doesnt seem to be huge interest in Toby. His (or his managers) tactics hasnt really worked out.
He is 29 years old and clubs probably know they have to dig deep in their pockets to get him ( because they are dealing with levy).
If he hasnt burned the bridges with Poch maybe we will see him stay. I would be happy with that. Also if he goes, fine, get all the money we can, and dont sell to PL team.

Still think he will end up at United. They wanted Umtiti as well, but he's rumoured to be signing a new contract with Barca. They will probably turn all their attention towards Toby now.

Assuming Kane, Eriksen and Dele's new deals go through soon, and assuming the figures are released as £150-200k for those three, maybe the narrative that Toby is only leaving because Levy cheaped out on wages will finally end.

Many seem to want to ignore the other reasons why he's not got the deals the other lads have.

That said I'd be happy if he could make up with the club, but sounds like that oppprtunity is long gone.

Well Umtiti has just signed a new contract in the last hour, there were rumours of United looking at him as well as Toby if I remember correctly.

Very early days yet. Nobody lumps everything on at the beginning of a round of poker.

From the horse's mouth (when asked whether he will return to Belgium one day): 'I am not at my peak yet. I can still make steps forward, and consider a return to Belgium later on.'

Elsewhere in the Belgian media, it was claimed by an 'insider' that Toby 'can choose between a number of European top teams this summer'.

Him and his entourage are surely upping their 'come and get me' plea in the media...

Now Umtiti has signed a new contract at Barca its hard to see where he would go outside of Utd. Him signing for one of our main rivals would be like a kick in the nuts.

Utd are going to get him for £50-60m and fob us off with no Martial aren't they?

I hope the club manages this well if so. Ideally getting 1-2 in at the same time. There'll be a backlash from the angry mob that think its just Levy being cheap. (Despite paying record contracts to numerous other players and the manager this year!)

The backlash will be some rants on internet forums though, no big deal tbh.
