The way this is playing out, I wouldn’t be so shocked to see Toby remaining. I don’t think Levy will sell him for the sake of selling him if nobody bids a huge fee.
I agree, but this will only happen if he signs a new contract and as we've been told, that's a big if.

Depends whether anything gets put back on the table.

Its all pointing towards him going I think. Maybe the player now just wants to concentrate on the world cup and worry about his contract afterwards. He seems to do what he wants anyway regardless of anyone else, so I expect this is what is currently happening.

I wouldn't be surprised if we sold him in the last week of the window and brought in a substandard make do replacement or opportunistic signing. Or anyone at all.

If I'm not mistaken they've had the least goals scored against them in the last two years.

Correct. They had the second best defence last season, conceding 1 more than City. What's Toby going to do? They'll concede a couple less? Big deal. Their defence isn't the problem.

Not to derail this but the biggest problem they have is a creative midfielder like Eriksen or Carrick of old.

Down to DeGea i think youll find

Pat Jennings was a better keeper than DeGea but he still let in goals because his defence weren’t doing their job properly. Man United have such a good goals against record because all the team were contributing to defending their goal. Not just the keeper.

No doubt De Gea is a world class keeper, but United's defensive strength isn't solely down to him. Since Mourinho arrived they have played tactically a lot more defensive, with all players including the forwards under no illusion about their defensive responsibilities

Wow - when you see stats like that, you again realise how far ahead Man City were compared to everyone else. Only faced 45 shots at goal the whole season?! Barely conceded more than one shot per game, that's insane especially when they are simultaneously so formidable in attack. Working proof that attack is the best form of defence.

Also shows how underrated Nick Pope was last season

All the more impressive when 16 of these came from us and we lost twice.....

I assume these are shots on target? Becuase most lower teams concede 15+ shots per game against top 6 opposition especially away from home.

True but don't underestimate Toby's passing ability. Those brilliant upfield diagonal balls of his can turn defence into attack in a split second. It was one thing we missed last season IMO.
