It won't be that interesting as I suspect you already know what Levy will do, we probably all do...35/40m now or 25m next summer...come on.

I can’t see many replacement cbs we could get for that price at that point in the window

Sounds like PSG have moved for Bonucci so another option out the window. As others have said - I expect a 35/40 million bid from United in the last week of the window. Will be interesting to see what Levy decides to do.

And the fear is that Levy then will sell. But, are man u ready to gamble and wait until last minute to get toby? Hope not. If they get any of the others they are chasing they might drop their toby interest altogether. Thus we are "stuck" with toby.

Would be interested to see how Poch handles that if it happens.

Poch won't be happy at all. That's for sure.
To be fair to Levy, I don't think he's really to blame for this situation. Poch is the one who requested that he's sold by all accounts, so it would be unfair to hold him responsible. He can't just expect clubs to start bidding and I must admit I thought United would have shown more intent to sign him by now. Levy can't and shouldn't sell Toby off on the cheap either, it's highly likely we will need to recoup that cash to replace him.

Only one person to blame for this mess and it's the person who started this whole situation off.

If he can mend fences i'd be delighted for him to stay. But he would have to sign a new contract without a cheap get out clause.

If they manage to resolve their issues, I'd be ecstatic. We'd have the best defense in the league if we keep Toby fit. Also, we won't have to spend millions on a replacement and could use that in other important areas of the pitch COYS

Fucking hell - reduced to being a handyman? Better than selling him to United I guess.

Love to screw them over by the way.

Big concern if he stays is the knock on effect on Davinson. Toby would want to be first choice (he already went public on his unjustified omission towards the end of last season) so unless we are shifting to a 3 more regularly it could be an issue getting Davinson enough game time. Hell of a back 3 if so however!

Aside from that it's a no brainer though. Not selling a top player to rival, keeping a top class CB (looked good at the WC) and more time to focus on other transfers (that's two less deals to do effectively).

Guess we'll find out soon. No guarantees Poch will welcome him back or whether new contract terms are agreeable.

Where has this Davinson stuff come from? Heard there were problems with teammates but not specifics. Honest question - was this ITK?, because I’ve not seen it - and I’m on here a lot.

If he leaves we have to fork out a quoted £40m+ on a replacement who in theory will only be back up for Jan & Davinson. If Toby stays he won't be getting assurances he starts. He'll be told what everyone is that you are paid to train and those that are performing the best get opportunities in the first team.

He'll have to earn it just as must as Jan, Davinson & Juan have to

Toby stays Toby plays, it’s that simple. We are a far better team with him. Dave will get enough opportunity as cover or part of a 3. He’s not on the same level yet so leave sentiment at the door and think like a team going for the league.

I meant I don't want to see Sanchez being relegated to backup, nothing else

I'd prefer him to stay obviously. Idea that the money can then be spent on other areas rather than replacing him doesn't make any sense though as that money was coming from the Toby sale. Some of it might have been put towards another signing too. We wouldn't have to replace him but our overall budget would be significantly smaller.

if we are that desperate to play 3 at the back, Dier could drop back. the same Dier that played mainly in a back 3 the season we finished 2nd. If Toby does stay and we do go reg with a back 3 we might as well try and sell Wanyama now, because he isn't going to want to sit on the bench all season
