Oh right, so when it looked like we were showing ambition by breaking our transfer record for Sanchez last summer, in fact what we were doing was just spending two thirds of Toby's future transfer fee a year early. Naff me. Clever Levy, he even got some change.

Not good enough.

Who knows what Levy was thinking with the Sanchez signing.

All we know is that Levy operates a player trading company. He's done it since entering Tottenham with ENIC and a leopard does not change its spots.

It would not be a surprise for a player to be signed this window that is not a 1st team/squad top requirement.

If we had Toby against the likes of Juventus I think last season could have been even better. We missed him in the big games.

Why did he miss those games though? He was either injured or he'd pissed off the manager. Neither one is helpful for the team.

Sorry if already posted, but could it be that stuff like this that has gone to his head?

Let's hope that she's not a Tottenham fan.

Il reserve any ranting until after the window has closed but I will say one thing..

Sanchez was not bought in to replace Toby last season!

No idea where people get this from, when Sanchez first joined we were playing Jan, Sanchez and Toby all in a back 3. It wasn’t until Toby got injured and this stand off with the club happened that the 3 didn’t play together. I will also add that most people, including the club, thought that Toby would be signing a new deal with a bumper pay rise.

Selling Toby to Manure for circa £60m is absolutely no problem to me but what irks me is why can they say they dun wan Martial to move this way while we have to bend over for them?

Toby + £20m will be a fair deal for all parties.

Just due to the fact they stopping Martial this direction makes the £60m not worth it.

There should be 2 prices for Man U. A fair price for Toby that includes Martial in the deal, or a stupidly overpriced value with martial not included. See how desperate they are for him.

I think an honest look at this transaction, and we wanted rid of Toby more than United wanted to buy Toby.

We needed to sell a non-HG player. All accounts point to Poch wanting Toby out of the squad. Toby was always leaving this summer or next - and if he was not committed, we did well to squeeze as much out of United as we did. We also had no other serious bidders. If it was not for Jose throwing his toys out of the pram - we don't get this deal done, and we don't have the funds, or roster space, to strengthen the squad in other areas.

This is the first domino to fall - I am now more optimistic about the window than I was a couple of days ago.

If martial was a spurs player we'd put a massive fee on him.... If Toby is worth 75 mill? then were basically saying martial is worth just 55?? If we're suggesting we ask utd for 20 million plus martial for Toby then it ain't happening. Straight swap is the right value imo in today's market.

I think you have that backwards - people were saying Toby + £20M for Martial

I think that's a little unrealistic. A young AM/Forward with EPL experience and huge ceiling versus a world class injury prone CB who has around 2 years left at the top. It would have to be Toby plus 20m or something like that for me. Attacking players always come at a premium and age is a big factor.

I don’t disagree, but from rumbles ongoing this ain’t necessarily a bad thing.

Davidson is the real deal in my eyes, reminds me massively of Ledley

You are just a troll. Try the process of developing a cogent argument before posting, it would really help everyone else.

read the thread and see how many times i've put the argument out there, think I explained it 10 times yesterday. you call me a troll:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: at least I support Spurs through the good and bad, and understand "We are not, Big enough, or Rich enough yet" to chuck money at problems we don't have:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

When people blindly accept everything as positive even when its not and then use imcorrect excuses to ignore the bad things what do you want people to say?

This forum is getting ridiculous as if you dont share a collective constant positivity you get called a joke and need to have a word with yourself

Everyone is entitled to an opinion
The pessimism this year far outweighs the 10% of grounded posters still waiting until after the window closes before losing their shit. The toxicity this transfer window is really driving me away from the site (not aimed at you, it just seemed a sensible post to reply to)

Its not that we want to see a player paid his wages for being on the bench. Its about strenghening a rival 2 yrs running.

We pay many a player who gets marginal minutes throughout the season or just getting cameo appearances. So that reasoning doesnt wash with me.

Now if there was a younger exciting talentlined up like a De Ligt or that Pavard guy as an example, those of us disgruntled with this deal would find it slightly palatable and see the long term gain to this particular deal. Now lets not go the route of there is still 5 days to replace him.... I've heard that throughout the window.

We've known for roughly 12 months or more actually of TA's stance on his contract....we should have had his replacement scouted, negotiated and signed by 1 June 2018. This just smacks of the Berbatov/ Keane situation all over again.

I've seen comments to the effect that Foyth/Sanchez was the replacement player... Yet prior to TA's injury he was constantly in the starting 11.

Its truly sad to lose a talented defender of his calibre to a Rival... ( Okay it started as a reply and became a rant...got that off my chest :cautious:).

but we won't be paying him to sit on the bench, unless that's what he uses when sat at home when playing his PS4. people moan about our spending and not pushing it that extra few mill, but want to throw 35m down the drain (for a 29 injury prone player that has no loyalty), and near on another 4m in wages. it doesn't make sense

I can understand that but its also understandable why people feel so negative atm. Let me explain myself at least - it is also toxic when people relay their worries and certain posters refuse to accept anything other than a positive view because Kane has signed a contract and we have a new stadium.

I love those 2 things too but I also want to win things and that means buying players that will help that to happen. All of my mates support other clubs and they dont see us as a big club because of how we operate in the transfer windows and how we still sell to rivals.

Maybe I was a bit OTT earlier as I have a banging hangover but I am just as passionate about our club as the other positive only posters...I just want to see some results now and standing still wont do that. Both sides are annoying I get that and I am sure I have irritated people this window but you never see the more worried posters insult the positive ones...its always the other way around and makes you feel like you cant post here at times.
