I am fine with him staying. I hope we don't go back to a back-3 though. Too defensive against most teams.

So what's the situation with Toby then?

Herc seemed to suggested he's sorted things out with Poch and Levy but what does that mean...

He's going to stay for the season, probably get a game here and there and leave next year?
He's still available for transfer abroad until their window closes?
He'll be available for transfer again in January?

Or are we going to get him signed up to a new contract and reintegrate him into the starting 11?

Until this is clear, I'm not sure how I feel about him still being here...

Am I missing something?

How do we ultimately know that he will still be a Spurs player come September - have we now been lead to believe everything is hunky dory with Poch and our management team or indeed he's indicated he wants to commit to a new contract which waives his buyout clause?

Don't think this one is resolved by a long stretch

Eriksen, in a pivot, is not strong enough defensively.

Eriksen in a 3-man midfield, makes a lot of sense.
With 5 defenders and a player like Dier/Wanyama it doesn't matter. If you don't like that play the same back 5 and have Alli & Eriksen on either side of the destroyer.

Thats just it - 5 defenders and Dier = too many defenders, not enough attackers against teams that are not pushing forward.

I sort of agree - but unless he is disruptive, hard to see any European club offering enough to Spurs, or enough wages to Toby, to make the move now.

If anything, it might be more likely in January, but even then, there are only a few teams that that fit Toby's criteria, and Spurs' criteria.

It surprisingly wasn't that much of an issue, agree its unnecessary against the worst teams. Thats when you substitute a defender and move to 4-3-3.

This were the scores when we ran it in the league, not a bad return at all. It just allows everyone else so much more freedom. Throw in 3 against Dortmund as well..

If any European club offers us significantly more than £25 million for him I think Levy will flog him without a second thought

Again - its not as simple as selling him to anyone - Toby wants a big payday. Most teams are not going to give him that - he'll wait until the summer.
