Didn’t Aurier give away a penalty in that game (n):troll:
He certainly did. I thought he was so damn good in that first game against Dortmund was erratic pretty much ever since, didn't seem to miss a beat that game.
It was him in Turin as well for the first penalty.
After the world cup, Trips needs to be the primary RB. And he needs to take more corners and free kicks.

Had to double check I'd actually click on the Toby thread....
Good to see we're all on topic!

It's all linked - i said Sanchez gets caught out more than Toby, others suggested it wasn't big Daves fault, it was Aurrier and Sissoko's fault.

Then it went a bit off topic :ROFLMAO:

We pretty much snuck in and stole 3 points and still managed to nearly get caught and take a few blows on the way out.
Against a team widely expected to struggle and apparently in less good shape than us (subjective as to whether we're in any way in bad shape)

We had 2 golden chances against Newcastle and easily could have scored 4. I’d say they only had one golden chance Rondon that hit the bar. The Diame effort was outside post and Hugo had it covered. A draw would have been fair. But it certainly wasn’t smash and grab. We had more of the ball and equal amount of efforts

Hope he starts against Fulham with 3 at the back. We need to get some practice with that format before playing Utd. I'd also like to see him given a chance to prove himself.

He's just so damn good. Passing was fantastic and always comfortable at the back. Love seeing him turn with the ball and launch it up the flank.

Very interesting sub to today, taking off Sanchez rather that Alderweireld.
For me, he could have taken either off, to revert to a back 4.
I think MP has indeed wiped the slate clean, and will pick the team on merit rather than help Levy get the player to commit. On the face of it that sounds good news, but Levy will be fuming.

We of course don't know Toby's intentions - could he do a Campbell on us? Might be a very small chance, bur I'm still having trouble getting 100% behind the player.

If he’d taken Toby off it would have been a bad sign. Toby is class, no getting away from it. He also can pick a pass that takes out the whole midfield. I’d love him to sign a new deal. Sanchez is going to be world class but he’s still very young and has a lot of mistakes to learn from to come. Can’t think of many players better than Toby, Verts and Poch to learn from for a defender.

He won't be able to do a Campbell until he's nearer 31
We can activate the further year when his current deal runs out next year when he's almost 30, then we get either £25m for him or another year. If he goes on free the next season he's on the wind down in his career so it won't be such an big deal.

Hopefully some team spirit kicks in this year though and he signs a 3-4 year deal.

I dont think we could have signed better players than Toby and Dembele even though we made no signings I still think we are stronger than last season.

Also I hope KWP and Forth get game time playing him beside Toby, even if Toby went for £25 mil bring though KWP and JF would help offset the loss. Playing along side Toby is safer than Sanchez with his communication, composure, experience and reading of the game, they would learn a lot. If we had signed a young center back to replace him we would only have Jan with real exp.

I don’t understand the greed of some players. If the rumours are true and we offered him 140k a week on a new deal, that £7.3m a year for say 4 years. That is nearly £30m plus any bonuses before tax . How much money does one family need? He must have made millions already. I know they want to earn their market value but greed can make people make horrible choices.

Amazed me all summer how many convinced themselves that Alder wasn't as good as he is and that even Sanchez is better because of a little ITK, here's hoping he signs a new deal.

Lots misinformation going on i think. We won't know the true story. It was stated he would not play for us again.... My sense of it is he knows its his last contract and wants his worth.

Seeing him play and the tweets last week, it gives me a glimmer of hope that the situation can be salvaged. We far better defensively with him than without him.
