Seen a video of Poch hugging him after that win..... I thought there was no come back from what "happened".

Anyone else think he was frozen out the team... And that club PR system went into overdrive thereafter.
He was never frozen out... punished for contract talks sure but don't think he was ever fully fit either. He still practiced with the team and even played the occasional game but never looked fully back to strength.

Reading a lot about how great he was, personally thought he was still rusty and at fault for a number of utds chances. Made some decent tackles once we were 2 up but still think he's below his best. If he keeps Sanchez out the team it will be very harsh.

Suggest you watch this pal. I knew he played fantastic but watching this cut up is just so damn impressive. Top three player in the squad for me.

A friend of a friend is a data analyst for the Man United under 23s and works with Nicky Butt on a daily basis. This guy told my friend that the man utd chairman didn't think Toby was any better than the centre backs that they already had so didn't back Mourinho.

I'm very glad he doesn't rate him.

Would love to know what actually happened

Hard to take seriously the summer chat that he had done something terminal and then would only play if he signed a new deal when he is being picked over Davinson in huge games

Either way great to have him back although a new deal would be lovely

He disagreed over contract, thats all it ever was is what I suspect. The rest was PR nonsense the club was spreading so they could justify selling him.

The Toby situation reminds me of the time things had been going south with the missus.

No spark for a year or so and she'd been getting all flirty with this dick head I went to school with, the type who got all the birds. He'd got a bit chubby since those days but was minted.

I had accepted it was all but over and convinced myself this girl I'd met in a cafe was fitter anyway.

Then I get home from work one day and found the missus had been lingerie and steak shopping and had this cheeky little grin on her face and I thought 'f*ck she's a quality centre back what the F am I thinking just buy her those fkin shoes or whatever shite it was she wanted.'

Ye. That's what this reminds me of.

Are you sure you didn't watch his first back game from injury last season or something? Which mistakes did he make to create United chances? I seem to remember only two major ones by our players, one by Rose and one by Dembele.

The story goes that Poch helped him in negotiations with Levy to get a certain amount in wages, went to bat for him if you will. Then when Levy agreed, Toby and his agent said it wasn’t enough which pissed off Poch. Coupled with Sanchez and coupled with Toby’s injury meant he was deprioritised

No idea if that’s true but if so I completely understand. He will still need to rotate too for, as good as he is, there’s no point destabilising Sanchez’s progression for one more season of Toby. It would be like picking Walker over Trippier, hoping he won’t go even it’s quite obvious he’s off anyway. But making full use of his options is just sensible management

This is more or less exactly what Man United briefed the press with after the transfer window closed. They pointed to the low amount of goals conceded last year as a proof of their defenders being good enough, and wouldn't back Mourinho with a new CB. When all underlying numbers and even the so called eye test showed that United were a defensive shitstorm last year with De Gea having the sort of season that you cannot expect any keeper to replicate.

Their shitty performances seem to finally be catching up to them.

The moment you allow your woman to get away with flirting with another guy is the day you officially hand over your manhood.

Honestly?
After this summer, and all the things that didn't happen with him and others, that's what you want to keep you informed?

Appreciate the info we get but obviously it's now misinformation. Whatever the ITK's are being told, it's false the majority of the time.

I think what you have said is fair but is common knowledge but the “ITK” were saying there was something significantly beyond this that if it can to light would show Toby in a v bad light vs Poch and would highlight why his position was unsustainable - which now mysteriously seems to have been addressed

Pinch of salt and all that but an odd sequence of events and newsflow

No that's not all it ever was. I understand that Toby demanded x amount, where Poch went out on a limb to convince Levy to pay where he agreed. Toby's representatives (Agent and Father) then moved the goal post by demanded more, leaving Poch in a very fucked up position.

While this is to be confirmed having come from various sources, its more credible than your assessment which is having a cheap dig at Poch and the club.

You literally just said the whole disagreement was over the contract? No shots at Poch either...

You do realise that was all his good bits and not a total reflection of his overall performance in the match. Plenty of off bits and wayward passes missed out.

For balance he was poor for the first 30 minutes but really grew into the game and got much stronger.

Might be common knowledge but only from ITK - the “Poch helped, Toby moved the goalposts” line has never been confirmed by any party involved with it at all. So that was ITK.

Whether there’s other, super secret ITK saying something else, no idea. Seems unlikely - what else could it be? He chinned Poch’s cat? Puked in his training boots? Like, seriously - what else could have happened, realistically?

I think that original story puts Toby in a bad enough light, and also explains why it’s been “mysteriously” sorted (or most likely “put off for the greater good”). I’ll take that until someone says something more believable. Still think he’ll be off end of season

Says the club is going to make another effort to sign him to a new deal. Its quoting HLN which I think is a strong source out of Belgium. I didn't bother putting the HLN article into the translator but I'm assuming it says Toby now has a bionic hammy that will never get injured and is going to sign a new long term deal with the club.
Not sure how a Belgian news outlet would know Poch's intentions tbh, if it was from Toby's side then i'd put more faith in the story.
And the story doesn't even mention anything about a new offer anyway, so i'm not sure where 90min.com are even getting that bit from.

Id love it to happen though
