It's the same regarding the Eriksen contract situation. Just fucking pay him a fair wage compared to Kane already, Levy. We cannot afford to fuck about anymore and we will not be able to replace them with anyone of similar quality and experience if they do go.

What is a fair wage compared to kane and how do you know we haven't offered it? Dele's is worth up to £150k a week so it's not like we're being tight.

Just for reference modric is on £130k a week.

I don't know what's been offered but Dele on 150k a week? From what I remember reading it's around 100k a week plus bonuses. Well, Kane is rumored to be on 200k including bonuses isn't he? Anywhere between 150k and 200k is where I'd expect us to offer.

Modric is on 180k now from what I've read.

If they've been offered 150k+ a week and they've turned it down, then fair enough.

seem to recollect Poch sorted a deal and Toby's people pushed him to backtrack after shaking on it....that was Poch's frustration last summer (@Hercules with the itk i think).
Now it looks like we aren't rushing to offer him the same terms again....
reality is that getting rid of some fringe players brings in money and frees some wages:
Janssen, GKN could be sold this winter
Fernando, Dembele and Vorm off the books in the summer
One of our 3 RBs also has to be moved on (Aurier please).
Creates space on wages etc.

Dele on up to £150k a week. That's with bonuses.

I didn't realise modric got a pay rise in the summer. Still he's the best cm in the world at the biggest club in the world.

That's small potatoes compared to what the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Ozil are on.

(Not arguing with you just pointing out the madness of it)

Age will play a big part in the wages though. Alli and Kane are young with many miles on the clock. The likes of Toby are only going to slow down and we can't forget Toby had a big injury a year ago. We're simply not going to pay a 29 year old the same sort of wages.

I'd be interested to see if any of the big European teams came in for him and offered more than we are/were. He's a quality defender but perhaps this season's dip in form and the emergence of Foyth as a backup option have affected his negotiating position.

Which is good, because he doesn't deserve it now.

Based off what? He's been excellent all season.

Because I don't trust him. I think he has been ok this season, not been close to the level he was before the injury where he would have been worth those wages. My onion.

Don't trust him because of what? Other than the contract, which in this scenario he would be signing a contract...

Because of the stunt he tried to pull before. Which didn't work and now he's crawling back. JV is the one deserving to be paid top wages. Loyal servant and a superior defender.

These are all rumours so we don't know if it's true besides players/agents and clubs renege on deals all the time, if the club are handing him a new contract then the club must feel that it's water under the bridge.

Yeah good for them. As I said, it's my onion and he's going to have to work very hard to change it.

What makes you think we're offering him a contract? Have I missed something?

It was widely reported that he majorly pissed Poch off by turning down the deal after Poch went into bat for him. His subsequent lack of playing time would bear that out. It's also rumoured that the same deal is still on the table but Toby hasn't signed up. Poch seems to have swallowed his pride and given him his place back in which case you'd think Toby might do the same and sign the contract. All rumour I know, but it would seem that all of this fucking about has been costing Toby that huge rise every week, probably in the region of 100k. You'd think he'd just sign the thing wouldn't you?

Unless I missed something it was only reported on here and with all due respect some of the info hasnt been 100 percent correct of late. We aren't going to pay to find someone as good as him so we should do everything we can to keep him

Toby this summer will be 30, have on year left on his deal, a recent history of injuries and be available for £25m. If he leaves and we are left with a Vertonghen and Sanchez as first choice withFoyth continuing to progress, then any steady Eddie with premier league experience will do, especially when considering Dier’s versatility. Alternatively, a young LCB (though I’ve liked Sanchez there for Columbia) would be good. But if Toby hasn’t extended on our terms by the end of the season, he’s easily replaceable as Sanchez is already very good and on the way to being top class, and Foyth has every chance of replicating that based on the past month.

I have said elsewhere, I’d like to start seeing a Foyth-Sanchez pairing wherever possible as that is the future.
