If it means, potentially, losing 15 million on him in the summer so be it.

It would be absolutely madness to strengthen United when they're practically on their knees in terms of top four.

If they got him and got back into the mix it would be beyond farcical.

Now saying that, they could sign another quality option regardless but they won't have the same guarantee they'll get with Alderweireld - hitting the ground running.

Just sell him in the summer, or just maybe he stays. But selling in January to a rival would be completely remis.

Not to mention our own depth would take a huge dent.

Saving 15 million for all that, not for me.

Selling him in January would be ridiculous. I'd seriously question the management if we did that. Another injury situation like the one we are having now and we would be fucked.

Have we got any ITK on this and does anyone know if we are genuinely (LOL) 'in' for anyone ourselves in Jan. Agree with other posters that selling Toby in Jan is a bad move, awful in fact. Strengthening Man U when they're on their arses, jeeeez.....let him go in summer but not now.

Daniel Levy likes to mess MU up since Berba deal, so I don't imagine he would do business with them in the foreseeable future.

I' don't think they have a guarantee that he would 'hit the ground running'. Mourinho seems to have an inate ability to fuck players up, especially centre back, and especially when things aren't going his way.

What is wrong with the Centre backs he already has ? He bought two of them and SAF was a fan of the other two. Perhaps if they received better man management, better coaching, and support, they would be good enough ?

There is absolutely no chance we sell Toby in January. It would be ludicrously poor management by the club, would leave us exposed mid season. I just can't see that at all.

Agree with these recent sentiments - selling TA now would be stupid.

By all means work on and target the summer replacement but don't mess with things right now. We have other priorities.

The fact he bought them is irrelevant. They aren't good enough and he knows they need better.

Will be interesting to see if you guys accept a 15m cheaper centre back to replace him in the summer

What's wrong with them is that Mourinho is coaching them and they're not thugs like John Terry and Carvalho. He's managed to turn them all into gibbering wrecks.

Whats the value of Champions League to the club? IMO selling Toby in January would greatly risk Champions League qualification.

It has felt a bit like, with playing him, we have offered an olive branch in the negotiations (however much he has been needed) and hopefully he'll take it that way and seek new 'reasonable' contract terms with us...

Forza optimism!!

Don't want him to leave, but kinda resigned to the fact he will. Would rather we kept him till the summer than sell him to a rival this window. So fuck them!!!
