When did Wanyama get injured? Just noticed he's not playing tonight after missing out on Tuesday. Any ideas on the injury???

He's still in NYC eating all the spaghetti he can find. Going to have a long road back to getting fit again.

#thfc Pochettino on Victor Wanyama: "He played against PSG and he suffered a small problem in his cartilage in his left knee..."

#thfc Poch: "...But sure for next week he will be available to train again."

That's greatly instructive, as well as being enjoyable to watch.

What we also learn from that is how underrated Wanyama's passing is. I think he failed to reach a teammate (or draw a foul) once in that entire video and that was an attempted through ball in the attacking third.

It's not that he's making brilliant "vision" passes like Eriksen, it's just that he reliably gets the ball to a teammate, despite having at least one opposition player hanging off him or barging him. And many of the passes went out to an attacking wide player with space in front of him, in part because there were at least two midfielders trying to deal with Wanyama.

He was uncharacteristically poor (and that is perhaps being kind) today. He always seemed a step off the pace, which is perhaps understandable given his lack of a proper pre-season.

He was pretty dreadful today, kept giving the ball away, usually through trying to overplay as if he's envious of Dembele. Poch should have realised this and brought Winks on instead.

Poorest player on the pitch for us today. Can't defend that level of performance at all, unless he was injured, in which case he shouldn't have played.

He was just rusty - missed a bunch of pre-season.

He was clearly unfit from the first moment totally wrong game to throw him back in for pure stupidity in fact.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason (although he had a few poor games around September last season, maybe he's just a slow starter?), but even so he shouldn't have been on the pitch considering the opponent.

I'm guessing Dier's fortunate yellow card meant Poch was the reason went for him to go off instead. Small margins...

I'm more than willing to give him a pass, think Dier, Hugo and Poch did him no favours today.

Willing to guess that you're basing that from today's performance.

What did Dier do wrong? Was far better than Victor today.

But he doesn't struggle when he's pressed at all, in fact he's fantastic at holding players off.

You're fucking joking. Wanyama is one of the best I've ever seen at resisting opposition pressing.
