Just a bad day at the office but we know he's quality when he's at his best.

Yep. In his role, when fully fit and after a run of games, he’s as good as we’ll get. Class player.

He was poor today but it’s allowed given how great he has been in the past. Also, hard to get too annoyed with him when he is charged with creating play. That’s like moaning at Son for being a poor left wingback

When fully fit, he's a great player. But he has looked way off the pace since returning from injury. He is clearly not close to fully fit yet. Should be given time and eased back in.

He’s been out for pretty much the whole season. I hope he gets back into form quickly as we could really use a fit and firing Victor in this tough run of games.

I wouldn't use yesterday as a gauge on Wanayama. He had a shocker as did the rest of the team. Yesterday would have been very hard in terms of fitness as the playing surface was soft so i thinj that was good. He will turn up for the big games and hopefully replace Dier in the first 11.

Actually thought he’d looked good since coming back. Was a bit shocked by yesterday but will put it down to conditions. These players nowadays rarely get taken out of their comfort zone. They really are very pampered and unprepared for a situation like yesterday from the changing rooms to the pitch it must be very unsettling.

Wanyama alongside Dembele and Sissoko left us without any creativity what so ever. He’s better playing the holding role with pace and creativity around him.

Think for me the issue was that Wanyama was shocking bad. We expected so much more of him against a lower division side. As compared to Sissoko... Who was bad, but it isn't so shocking.

Totally agree... But... The 3 of them do need to sort it out. Actually the 2 of them... I ever understood what Sissoko does for the team.

Poch will still find a place for Dier in the first 11 even if he has to stick him in goal.

Seems unlikely to turnaround and do it on Wednesday though.

WHAT A GOAL!!!

Actually, can we also discuss the 3-4 deft and accurate passes that he played today. He's improved his long range passing tremendously, I think his third touch of the ball was that long diagonal to Tripps. I personally would start him over Dier moving forward. Vic shows more defensive urgency and isn't easily shrugged off the ball like Eric is.

His pass to Eriksen that really got that move going was very nice as well. Great vision and touch to play it into his path on the left but put it over the top of the defense.

That goal reminded me of Martina's for Southampton a couple seasons back. The power was incredible but that bend that saw it turn into the top corner was just amazing.

Played a big part in us finishing 2nd in the league last season. I’d like him back in the team ASAP.

He uses the ball much better than he is given credit for IMHO.

I don't like to get into arguments about whether to play him over Dier, as it is a squad game and I was irate at the idea of Dier going to United in the summer - when there were some on here in favour of it. We should be seeing Dier as part of a very bright future, moving forward. But if I had to pick a best eleven for any given match, Big Vic would be in the midfield. More bang for your buck...as we saw today :)
