He hasn't been the same since the injury. The question for me is whether that's because he just hasn't had the run of matches necessary to get back to full match sharpness or because he's done a Sandro :(
All the Barrios stuff this summer makes a whole lot more sense now.. Wonder if he'll be a winter target.

There are 2 concerns of mine. The big one is if he will ever get back to his best. After that is, will he get back to his best with us. Injuries have been brutal for him. Sadly, he doesnt look anywhere near the stratosphere of the dominant destroyer he was 18 months ago.

Dier is easily first choice atm and he’s in awful form himself. He’s just a better option than Wanyama is right now.

Ultimately I firmly believe Skipp will be better than dier and wanyama, he’s just a better footballer. Unfortunately it’s just a bit too early for him. Although I actually believe he could now do a job against the lesser PL teams. Nothing to really base this idea on, but wouldn’t mind seeing foyth given a crack. From what I’ve seen he technically looks better than both dier and wanyama.

Sorry but I cringe when I see people mention academy kids as potentially better players than senior experienced pros. There's probably about a 95% chance Skipp is never better than either of them. If we are to find upgrades it will need to be externally in the market.

Spurs aren't a club that will win things by foolishly believing our academy has the answers. If Skipp is that good he will be a one off, like Kane is. The path to us regressing as a club if when we start relying on the kids rather than spending serious money on top players.

Thanks Alan Hansen

Just being a realist. Spurs aren't unique. Where are the academy kids coming through at our rivals? Hoping Skipp to be better than Dier and Wanyama?! You're going to be disappointed. That's not because Dier and Wanyama are amazing it's just because academy kids hardly ever make it at Spurs or any top club.

I did think he showed a few glimpses of his old self on the ball.....

Off the ball he was in a whole other world. So bad. Wasnt helped by Winks anonymity in the first half though.

He didn't have a good game but he seemed more mobile at least. Important few months for him.

He needs game time but our current injury crisis and Poch’s brain farts of playing both Wanyama and Winks together has proved to be an unmitigated disaster. Playing 2 players whom are both way off the pace as a partnership has already cost us this season. Either blood a youngster, temporarily play an experienced player out of position or shuffle the formation as we’re getting murdered in central midfield.

Have you actually seen Skipp play over a number of games ? For those that have I doubt I’d be alone in saying he is technically better than dier/wanyama. And potentially has much more about him. Of course there’s no guarantee but I’d certainly give him more chance than 5%.

Nope. Time will tell but I won't be pinning my hopes on it. Levy needs to spend some serious money on players or we will never win a proper trophy.

What do you know about Skipp to rubbish the previous post?
In a team that seems incapable of passing and retaining the ball he is certainly a young player that could bring that calmness to our midfield.

Isn't that what Winks is supposed to do?

We can't spend any money until January. The CM problem is here now

The CM problem was here in the summer too and Levy fucked it.

Having to rely on Skipp to sort out our CM because we've been left so weak in CM? I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I was saying this all summer and many down voted me for being a moaner.

Look at the mess our CM has been this season.

So we only need one player who can do that in midfield?

You've not even seen Skipp play so I can't work out how your are making a judgement.

You want our CM to be Winks and Skipp? Seriously?

I don't need to see him play. If Poch isn't playing him he's obviously not good enough yet. I mean how raw does Skipp have to be if he can't get in ahead of Dire Dier?

Don't disagree. Just reacting to where we are now. Levy/Scouts/Poch fucked up no doubt. IF we'd shipped out sonme of the dross we'd have bought I'm sure. Sadly the dross is unsellable.

So what do we haveDembele regularly knackered.
Dier lost the hunger, still a world class pointer and letting runners get behind with ease though
Wanyama is ragged and not a great passer.
Sissoko - fraudulent footballer
Winks - My best option, lost in the first half last night but shone through in the second.

You have to look at what you've got at this moment in time. Not saying I would throw Skipp in against a top team but at home against a team like Cardiff might just be an opportunity.
