I know he's been out a long time, but he looked really off the pace today. Needs a run of games, but worrying considering he doesn't seem to keep fit consistently

I actually thought he was much better tonight, recycled the ball a lot better than he did against West Ham.

We’ll need him to stay fit for rotation in the run up to the festive season so fingers crossed he does.

Where was the JJ comment - completely missed that.

The full original tweet says that Spurs were close to wrapping up a deal for 25million but Ajax increased their valuation and Poch pulled out of the deal.

From earlier this year:

"I was so low, worrying about how long it would take," he said. "I'd go in for treatment then come home and ice the knee every two hours until 2 a.m. I'd try to sleep but I was thinking too much, worrying. I'd get up about 8 a.m. then go in for treatment again at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m.

"It wasn't an easy process but [Spurs manager] Mauricio Pochettino said to me, 'We don't want you to repeat this injury, be patient, we want you to recover properly, no risks.'"

"I never felt disconnected from the squad while I was injured. People find it hard to believe but we are an unbelievably tight group. I've not known it before where everyone is friends.

"It was euphoric when I finally returned to training. The medical team wanted to ensure we didn't rush and that my recovery did not require surgery.

"It's tough at Tottenham. Jesus Perez, the manager's assistant, is mad. He knows everything about all of us, he works you hard with different ideas and it's very fruitful. I lost 7 kg when I arrived at Tottenham from Southampton. He made me fitter. Every day now I feel stronger.

With the update that he's still struggling with his knee injury, I think a move to have surgery might be next and hopefully this will resolve the issue. He'll be 28 next year and I still have faith that he can make a comeback similar to Lamela.

I think he’s fucked personally.

Hope I’m wrong as he is outstanding at his best but something isn’t right there.

Is this another case of putting off surgery in the hope that he can get fit without it and then after months of trying give up and have the surgery?

Seems the case. The physios do their best to avoid surgery but it does look like it will be inevitable in this instance. Slight positives is that he doesn't have a long history with injuries and this will be his 1st knee surgery, if it comes down to that.

Get well soon Victor. If he is going to have surgery he should be having it now. At least we will have him for next season.

I think big Vic had a good cameo yesterday. The best we’ve seen of him in a while, yeah his passing was a bit hit and miss, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt from lack of game time.

He looked leaner, quicker, and stronger than he has done in a while. Fingers crossed he can get back to his best. We miss the big guy, badly.

Im not too sure if I'm honest. He had a lot of time on the ball and didn't seem to move too sharply. Sure, his passing will certainly improve as he gets sharper but I think he'd have struggled in a game in which he was harassed more.

I do truly hope he can get back to the level he was at but we need to be seriously considering other options. He's missed so much football in the last 18 months.

I thought he looked awful. Couldn’t complete simple passes and I thought he looked less mobile Imo. Hopefully will improve after he gets a few games under his belt though.

Takes time to get your confidence back. You can't tackle like him at his best without worrying if you're going to get crocked again / for good. If he starts to go in for a few crunching tackles and come out unscathed, big Vic will start smiling again and go from strength to strength.
