When did Wanyama get injured? Just noticed he's not playing tonight after missing out on Tuesday. Any ideas on the injury???

Great video showing how he makes such a difference against the press...

That's greatly instructive, as well as being enjoyable to watch.

What we also learn from that is how underrated Wanyama's passing is. I think he failed to reach a teammate (or draw a foul) once in that entire video and that was an attempted through ball in the attacking third.

It's not that he's making brilliant "vision" passes like Eriksen, it's just that he reliably gets the ball to a teammate, despite having at least one opposition player hanging off him or barging him. And many of the passes went out to an attacking wide player with space in front of him, in part because there were at least two midfielders trying to deal with Wanyama.

He was uncharacteristically poor (and that is perhaps being kind) today. He always seemed a step off the pace, which is perhaps understandable given his lack of a proper pre-season.

He was pretty dreadful today, kept giving the ball away, usually through trying to overplay as if he's envious of Dembele. Poch should have realised this and brought Winks on instead.

Poorest player on the pitch for us today. Can't defend that level of performance at all, unless he was injured, in which case he shouldn't have played.

He was just rusty - missed a bunch of pre-season.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason (although he had a few poor games around September last season, maybe he's just a slow starter?), but even so he shouldn't have been on the pitch considering the opponent.

I'm guessing Dier's fortunate yellow card meant Poch was the reason went for him to go off instead. Small margins...
