delighted to have him back and moving well. I happy to say that i've never been so wrong about a player.

Totally agree. I didn’t see this good a player when he was at Southampton

Strong in the tackle, excellent range of passing and very comfortable on the ball with a decent turn of pace. Pretty much has everything when he’s 100%

I was expecting someone far more 1 dimensional

yeah his passing is a massive bonus, surprisingly very good vision, also reads the game extremely well in both boxes which makes him a goal threat and saves goals as we saw today.

I remember when he first moved to Southampton, admittedly I hadn't seen him play for Celtic and I didn't see him early on at Southampton, but I was in the pub with a Chelsea supporting friend who was mocking him, calling him the worst footballer he'd ever seen. Now, I shouldn't have really been paying any attention to him because firstly, he's Chelsea and secondly, he's proven many times how little he knows about the game but Wanyama has certainly far exceeded my expectations and he's actually superb with the ball in tight spaces. Thrilled he's one of ours!

Could not agree with you more on everything you said there.

I thought he showed tonight what we've been missing. He was quick to close down, strong in the tackle, and passed it on nicely. Shielded our back four excellently. He is a very very very good defensive midfielder. He's the player I thought Palacios would be after his debut.

Showed what we've missed in his cameo, a tough presence in the centre of the pitch to break up play and use the ball well. We haven't really had a player who stands up opponents like him whilst he's been out.

His absence was more strongly felt than his presence, literally. Guess that's why he gets more appreciation now, from me at least.

Beast is back, service resumed.

Once he is full fit, perhaps play him as a box to box player with Dier as the Def Mid, comments please !

I presume you have subconsciously blanked the 3 or 4 games Poch tried that when we first signed Wanyama and we played turgid, boring football and struggled badly offensively?

Both Dier & Wanyama can mark space, intercept & tackle equally well. But what makes Wanyama better is what he does with ball in possession. Dier usually stands still & looks for a short or long pass. Attimes, it sticks, at times it doesnt. While Wanyama doesnt have a long range pass with him - what he does so well is protect the ball & dribble & run into space and then pick a pass. This opens up the play even better in transition.

Hopefully he is fully fit and back. We desperately need him for the 2nd half of season
