Whatever way you look at it, our recent history of striker purchases is getting worse with every player we buy.

Hopefully Llorente bucks the trend - at least he's proven in the PL, as well as the rest of his career.

I don't think that it's a case that our striker purchases have been poor. Soldado, maybe, was poor in that he didnt fit the style of the team at the time. Janssen on the other hand is a victim to Kane's superhuman consistency. What we're talking about here is a striker that is one step below Messi and C. Ronaldo for consistency of performance (not ability or output) and that is extraordinary.

I think it's a waste of time and money to buy a like for like striker who's going to compete with kane because quite frankly they will hardly ever play unless they are along side him or for 5 mins at the end of the match.

We're better off getting a striker who plays differently or with different attributes who can play in other positions like son or an older head like Llorente that knows how the squad game works and is happy to bide his time and come on when he's needed.

But we already have that now.

Don't think he'll be in a Spurs shirt again. Just didn't make the grade.

Yeah, he won't be back. He was a really poor signing if we are all honest. We can all make lots of excuses for him, but he just wasn't good enough.

He will have to go into the pile of Poch's transfer clangers with Sissoko, Fazio, Stambouli and the N'twins.

I'm starting to think our number 9 shirt is cursed.

Currently 2-1 to Istanbul... Adebayor got one of them.

Janssen has come off the bench to partner Soldado upfront... Will it be enough to nick a point?

Edit: Clichy OG has made it 2-2... How in the world did he end up in Turkey?

No. A thousand times no.

Pav was an enigma. Scored some incredible and important goals, but more often than not he was about as dynamic as a mannequin.

Not great but not terrible either. Like Darren Bent, Pav had a semi-decent record for us, but not good enough.

Just underlines how unbelievably lucky we are to have Kane. 101 goals in 169 games for us. Incredible.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

I loved Pav, his record was ok and at the time was at our level, plus we were spoiled with Berbatov.

Wasnt sure, but thinking more and more llorente is a good buy as he is at the stage of his career that he doesnt need games to settle or develop and with harry in front of him that will work.

Janssen is not at that stage and he would have needed a lot of games to evolve his game and i dont think 1 season is enough to judge i think this is a move that benefits all

I'm surprised Everton didn't try and swap him for Barkly. They need a striker and there's the Dutch connection. Actually I'm surprised they didn't go for Llorente either
