Whatever way you look at it, our recent history of striker purchases is getting worse with every player we buy.
Hopefully Llorente bucks the trend - at least he's proven in the PL, as well as the rest of his career.
I don't think that it's a case that our striker purchases have been poor. Soldado, maybe, was poor in that he didnt fit the style of the team at the time. Janssen on the other hand is a victim to Kane's superhuman consistency. What we're talking about here is a striker that is one step below Messi and C. Ronaldo for consistency of performance (not ability or output) and that is extraordinary.
I think it's a waste of time and money to buy a like for like striker who's going to compete with kane because quite frankly they will hardly ever play unless they are along side him or for 5 mins at the end of the match.
We're better off getting a striker who plays differently or with different attributes who can play in other positions like son or an older head like Llorente that knows how the squad game works and is happy to bide his time and come on when he's needed.
But we already have that now.
