I don’t know why but I want to give him another go.

I don't know why, but I can't help but feel he hasn't been missed on a personal level. I've not seen anything to suggest he's been interacting with the team whilst he's been away, and vice versa. That speaks a lot, even if the evidence is unreliable.

he really didnt have a proper campaign in Turkey - injured from December to late April and a few sub appearances to finish up the season. he's still only 23.

Thirty million what? Is that really the state of the market, that we pay £17m for some one who is utter crap and end up selling them for nearly double?

Sky Sports have a story on PL players away on loan. This is their summary of VJ

Vincent Janssen (Tottenham to Fenerbahce) - Miss
After an awful first season in English football, things have gone better for Janssen in Turkey - but not much better.

Four goals in 16 games for Fenerbahce is unspectacular, but he has scored once every 213 minutes on average, only a little worse than a goal a game.

Injuries have not helped the Netherlands international's cause with the club, but we may well have still seen nowhere near the best of him.

The bolded line makes no sense to me. Do SS not know how long a game lasts?

The ITK all points to him having no future with us anymore. A real pity imo, good at holding the ball up and playing little one-twos. Just needs confidence and I think he could still do a job as back up. Most of the time we seem to be playing bus parkers, so his comparative lack of pace wouldn't be a problem there. Hope he gets another go, against all odds.

Christ he looked fucking lethal with AZ in all those youtube vids.

Buying "top" strikers from the Eredivisie does seem to be a real lottery, just looking back through this list you can see just how spotty they've been, especially moving to the PL:

Obviously there's Suarez, and Bony in his first Swansea stint, but even going back further it's pretty bleak.

Van nisterooy and hasselbaink succeeded but it's a lottery. He was probably better than llorente and we'd have done well to keep him here imo

Janssen is young and still can improve. Pochettino can be ruthless however and if he feels VJ will not cut the mustard he will be shipped out. If there are no takers, he may feature in some league cup matches providing he performs in training.

Wimmer had one good half season when others were out with injury. Lack of form and confidence after that was shame. Stoke have been a mess which no doubt doesn't help, I bet he will improve in Germany again.

Shame for VJ definitely made more of an impact than Llorente but he won't make it with us he lacks a yard of pace (Mental/physical) which is a shame. Shame Netherlands weren't in the World Cup or we could of done well off him...

Kane's pace has improved markedly over Poch's tenure. What's to say Vinny can't do the same?
