His performance was a concern again but I don't think we are helping him that much. He was up against 3 centrebacks and I expect Kane may have struggled. Pace was always going to fare better against their clogging defenders so it was no surprise Son looked a better prospect up top. (In fact Son played there the same way he had deeper all game I though and was more effective as the front man with his runs).

I don't want to come across as defending Janssen at all because I think he's contributing to his own problems but we need to keep giving him chances and I don't just mean in patchwork teams like today but a proper eleven. Although today you could see his confidence draining away.

I was at the game so didn't hear it but apparently Shearer was criticising him. Poch should give Shearer a call and get him in to coach Janssen for a month. I reckon that would improve him.
Thats a great point about striker coaching - who do we use these days? His confidence is shot so nothing to lose in trying something different.

He's not going to cut the mustard in the prem. Too slow and doesn't have the true strikers gift for being in the right place at the right time.

Offer Janssen + 20m to Celtic for Dembele...

Couldn't even shout at the tv today when I was watching him. He looks absolutely woeful, no confidence, no pace and very slow feet. The move was far to big so early into his first team career. Keep your fingers crossed for Kane. If he gets and injury we are buggered.

We looked at a young striker from Stuttgart at the start of 2015/16 season called Timo Werner, but at that time they were not looking to sell. Stuttgart got relegated at the end of the season and Werner made the move to RB Leipzig instead for 10m euros. He's now setting the Bundesliga alight with his goals and performances whilst we're left with the poor mans Kevin Davies as back up.Question is why didn't we follow up our interest in him as clearly he had something about him if we went in for him in the first place......?

I think we can play Alli up front tbh

I don't want to go back to the idea of players just doing a job. Playing Alli as a striker and forcing him play with his back to goal will just negate his biggest strength : his ability to ghost into positions from deeper. He needs to be facing the play.

If we can get another striker in I'm all for it, but it's not easy in Jan. If not we just need evaluate things in the summer.

I don't think it will do Jansenn's confidence much good however to get taken off against a championship team. I don't know why we just didn't keep him when Alli came on and sacrificed a defender.

I don't think he's going to cut it unfortunately, but then I never thought Kane would for us either. I think our only hope is that he scores an open play goal and then his confidence transforms but it's hard to see him getting even one at the minute.

It probably would be a good idea to loan out Janssen and bring in someone else but that's not going to happen so it's only logical to think of ways we might try to get by if the worst does happen.

Confidence is shot but I still have hope for him. He is a very good player so will come good for us. He needs to start though by scoring in open play. I believe had he been on the pitch the same time as N'Koudou today he would have scored. Not giving up on him......not yet

Loan him out, see what he can do. He's not going to play his way in to form at Spurs, demands are too high now.
Where though? Another prem team wouldn't touch him. Goes to another league then won't get used to prem.

Must me tough for the fella - He knows he's not playing well and it's doing him in.

If he doesn't get starts with us then his international place is in trouble too

Interested to know why you say he's a very good player? Where have you come to that conclusion? X

I really think he could do with a loan where he is almost garaunteed game time. He needs to play constantly to get fitness levels up and to have a chance of consistent chances to score.

He is not shit but is very low on confidence.. Today was like pulling teeth and even the most patient of us will start to lose it with him eventually.

The problem is even is other attributes were not there today, strength in holding the ball up or bringng others into play. It made him look vey average

who do you think will take a non scoring striker on loan - other than Dutch sides?

He is on the slow and cumbersome side, so to be seen to best effect he needs to be playing regularly. Unfortunately, we can't afford to give him enough time to play his way back in to form.

A likeable chap but looks pretty toothless. He doesn't seem to make the right runs, whether through lack of confidence or lack of timing I'm not sure.
