Article seems to contradict itself somewhat with the content.

Yes theoretically Alderweireld could be here until summer 2020 if we take up option of extra year in summer 2019.

But taking up this option allows a time slot where he can walk for £25 million if release clause met.

Surely Mr Levy is not that naive as the article basically sees him stating "don't worry gaffer it's two and a half years. "

Just highlights the concerns of many of the fans IMO as opposed to calming the situation.

The story say there’s that option. Poch’s comments seem to contradict that. Do we definitely know there is that option? Has that been 100% confirmed? As otherwise yes, just saying “2.5 years” is a form of denial. But i’d trust Poch and Levy over the tabloids so maybe it’s not cut and dry

At some point Levy will have to increase the wage ceiling- big time-the question is when.
With Harry`s contract setting the highest amount, which I believe is a little more than a hundred thousand(chicken feed), spurs are left open to nearly any other team-as far as wages are concerned. It seems to be a dangerous game based on the Poch factor. Jenas is convinced there could be a mass exodus and seems to know a little bit about the background situation.
Can only wait and see and only hope Levy has it all in his grip

When have these "mass exoduses" ever happened?

Levy will have to address the wages issue... Sooners rather than later. 2 seasons paying players below their going rate will not be tolerated by agents.

I certainly don't think the wages being paid are justified - however Saido Berahino is almost on parity with Kane following his transfer to Stoke...

Next year should be about settling into a new stadium - not potentially dealing with another Rose 'esque outburst about transfers with contractual undertones.

Almost our entire squad is under threat of being cherry picked (although high fees would be charged) which makes recruitment very challenging...

Modric and Van Der Vaart left in the same window. But the latter was the manager's (odd) choice. That was also I think the same summer that Ledley retired.

I thought VDV wanted to leave. Bit of a stretch to make out Modric left because we were underpaying him.
