Really like what Poch had to say about Dele here. He is right in the fact that he is such a phenomenal talent at 21 years of age - and he really has become the villain, the player the opposition fans are always talking about, always targeting. Even though I do agree his goal scoring form this season has been out of wack (in comparison to his numbers last season), I think he's continued to have a huge impact on the pitch in most games. What about his last PL game against Bournemouth where he stepped up and scored the first goal after Kane went off? What about him having the most Premier League assists of everyone in England's squad? Immense. There is more to a midfielder's game than goals.

His treatment this season has been appalling. Third most assists in the league and obvious improvement after a slow start in a different role yet treated like a busted flush.

How can any Spurs fan not be madly in love with Poch. Excellent man management and won't be surprised if Alli goes out and gives the performance of his life for his manager. COYS!!

My nomination for the most pointless comment in the press in recent memory is
"...and his form has not improved on the international stage, with the former MK Dons player struggling as a substitute against Holland and failing to come off the bench against Italy."

The wording seems to imply that Dele had a hand in Southgate's decision not to use him on Tuesday, "No can do, boss, I haven't finished doing my nails."

As an aside, the press have clearly decided that they like whatever it is that they've seen in Southgate's recent friendlies and are prepared to give him a fair wind. The fact that his clumsy substitutions on Tuesday seemed to invite the Italians to get back into the game has been swept under the carpet.

But Poch's comments aren't for their benefit. He's come out in support of one of his players because he knows the impact that his intervention is likely to have on the squad as a whole. It's the sort of response that Don Revie and Alex Ferguson would have made in the same circumstances.

In a perverse kind of way Southgate's comments about Dele at this time may have a beneficial effect, if Alli perceives that he still has much to do in terms of securing a starting place in the England games at the World Cup he might really up his game in the immediate term to prove Southgate and the media doubters wrong by showing them what he can do on the pitch, that will ultimately be excellent news for us at a time we most need it at the real business end of the season so in that sense these comments and doubts could prove be most welcome.

Pochettino is everything to man management that Mourinho isn't.

Southgate needs reminding who picks his squad for him too. Clue, it won't Southgate.
