I'd be very happy with Sanchez, Aurier and Foyth- no point going back over the Walker thing, but I think the former will become a rock for us over the next year or two and Foyth has to be a much better prospect than CCV who thankfully will not appear on our domestic cup team sheets again.

Where we will come up short is in attack, where we have no pressure on the front four- with Lamela and Barkley (assuming he comes) quite a way off match fitness (2 months?). And where the coach is too often tempted to play one too many defensive-minded players leading to sterile passages of play.

Fifth, and good progress in cups, would not be the end of the world this year.

I agree it would not be the end of the world but it's disappointing because Poch is our best manager of the prem era and we have a new scouting set up and the whole summer to identify the areas of weakness and upgrade them but in the end it's the same old thing of scraping around for signings at the last minute, with them missing preseason.

totally agree of course - but I'm more and more resigned to his ways, and lessons have not been/will never be learnt. I do feel they bought Janssen Sissoko and GKN last summer and in any other business would be held to account for that. He should bet ENICs money on his judgement, not the Club's...

Anyway I think I've actually been banned from certain parts of the site so have decided the site can fack itself, at least for the time being.

Disagree with you on the last part. The club, manager and players don't care about the domestic cups so how far we get in them is irrelevant IMO. Sure, it would be nice to win the FA Cup if we coincidentally end up in the final, but whether we get to the semi-final or go out in the 5th round doesn't matter.

The thing that is absolutely crucial is that we maintain our CL status. We've come a long way as a club in the past 10 years and the next step is to establish ourselves as a regular CL club so that we're looked at by players as one of the big boys when it comes to recruitment/hanging on to our talented young players. Dropping down to 5th would be a disaster in terms of our long-term plan regardless of whether we get a domestic cup or not.

Given that we basically don't have any home games this season, this season is about damage-limitation, so challenging for the title is probably unlikely, but it's vital that we finish top 4 at the very least, now more than ever.

I hope he sheds some light on our transfer plans for January.... Been days without any transfer stories on here. With ITK Thread closed, GOT thread anxiously waiting for season 8, and all the spammers retreating into their grottos this place has gone all sensible again.

there is a real under estimation in many quarters (not with you!) how tough this season will be. If offered 3rd now I'd grab it with both hands....would probably react the same way to 4th to be honest.

You can actually watch all CL press conferences live on Uefa's Facebook page.

They will then be uploaded to the CL website shortly after.

Just curious, Jesus Perez has always been present in the press conference as well right? Did he actually speak at all? Because he speaks really well and if I remember correctly his voice is amazing. Just haven't seen him talk in the conference. :D

The Spurs Twitter account sets a dangerous precedent here by naming the player by his Twitter handle. Only a matter of time before @ladiesman69 is out with a groin strain.

He doesn't speak usually, but Poch will go to him to translate a question if he is struggling with a word, or mishearing it.
