Were there actually rumours he was going to Chelsea? You can check out my avatar for the response to that.

Great news that he's signed such a long-term deal. That first game at the new stadium is going to be EPIC.

Only a shame the year doesn't end in a 1!

Years of experience has taught me to be usually pessimistic when it comes to all things Spurs, but I’m surprised so many fans actually thought he was going to go.

I never really expected him not to sign. The noises from Poch just seemed to me to be partly a response to the stuff about us not winning trophies and going to the next level, plus a little bit of subtle public pressure put on Levy.

He’s a smart man.

I personally don’t think it signals a spending spree, but what it will do is mean we shouldn’t lose some of our key players and give us the stability we need going into the new stadium.

Now if only we could sign a couple of quality performers to actually improve our starting 11 then we’re really cooking, but the Spurs fan pessimist in me tells me we’ll go for potential instead ( even if it’s very expensive potential!).

Still, great news and hopefully followed by a few players signing big contracts and should shut the press up for a while (y).

Pretty amusing he’s getting £8.5 m a year and Emery £6m. When their narrative has been you’ve got no money you’re building a stadium ?

lets see what shitty spin the media put on this news.
Probably..............." By giving Poch such a much improved contract for a further 5 years, Levy has ensured that Spurs will get a handsome pay off from [ Insert name] when Poch moves there later this summer"

It is an absolutely huge signing for us. I always felt that his comments were more about pushing us forward rather than an ultimatum. He never gives anything away during the season, always calm and reserved. Good results greeted with a smile and bad ones with a shrug. I think it was a bit of a release of all of that tension on his behalf, a reflection on what had happened over the season and a sign of his determination to ger better.

Ultimately he's right, we have travelled as far as we can or could have hoped for under our current model. For us to move forward we need to be a bit bolder. We can no longer afford to sit and wait for bargains while the others get their business done early. We arent city, utd or PSG, we're not going to buy neymar, but we are a wealthy club, with an ever increasing profile across Europe. We should be able to attract the players that we need.

I'm really excited about this summer and the season to come. New stadium, player retention and hopefully some top players coming in.

Since I started supporting spurs in 81, my mate's mum took us to an FA cup game against wolves at the lane as a treat for his birthday, there has probably never been a more exciting time to be a spurs fan.

I'm even excited about the world cup, only because there will be at least 3 spurs players playing in most of our games!
