"Pochettino accuses English football of hypocrisy"

Ridiculous headline, he did nothing of the sort.

I cant agree with him about Delli, its getting to the point that refs wont give him legitimate fouls because of his reputation. The dive against Liverpool was just embarrassing.:banghead:

Unfortunately this is true. Just like with Bale the media are pushing the idea he is a cheat so refs and everyone else are prejudice. He then makes things worse with the ridiculousness against L’pool.
I don’t think I ever read a story about Gerrard’s dives.

Self inflicted I'm afraid. We saw it coming but he just kept on doing it. Terry Downs (the boxer) used to say that to get a draw in the USA you had to knock the other bloke out. Dele will have to be beaten half to death to get a penalty these days.

You've got that arse about tit - the media are rightly commenting on the fact that Alli regularly dives. They aren't 'pushing the idea' that he's a cheat, they are accurately reporting the facts. And Gerrard absolutely did get the same treatment, except worse because it was usually in the context of him being older, captain of his club and occasionally country, and went on the record complaining about diving and committing himself to stamping it out at Liverpool (specifically with regard to Torres after he was caught diving IIRC).

Considering the amount of snide stuff Alli involves himself with - not only diving but the sly kicks, stamps and general aggro, he doesn't get much aggro from the press at all. I suspect that it has less to do with him being English, as is the general consensus, and more to do with the fact that he's generally been quite lucky/clever not to get sent off for any of his behaviour (he's only been sent off once for us as far as I can remember, and that was for a bad tackle rather than anything deliberately snide), so it doesn't become a massive issue.

The moment he gets a red for something sneaky in a big game for Tottenham or especially England, he will immediately become the media's whipping boy - whether or that's deserved is up for debate, but no one who watches him regularly will say they couldn't see it coming.

I think the point Poch is trying to make is that there are so many pundits and managers who will jump on an incident when it goes against them and keep quiet when it goes for them. Somewhat idyllic and utopian view that they should be more mature but what does it serve to complain about the ref after a game?

Ridiculous headline, exaggerated article but sensible quotes from Poch.
Regardless of all his other attributes and the fact he’s Spurs, he does conduct himself with more class than the other Top 6 managers. Wenger is one-eyed, Mourinho is who he is and Klopp is klopp, Conte is in a state, Guardiola is better than the others in terms of bias, but Poch is out on his own in his respect for opposition, officials and people in general.
All he’s saying is you win some, you lose some, but to bleat it’s unfair or to accuse refs of favouring one team over the other, or worse to complain one week and keep schtum the next is hypocrisy.

My personal view is I am not convinced he dived against Liverpool. He went over with no contact (maybe he lost his balance) but still tried to play on and get up. Think he should have got the benefit of the doubt, no foul and no card.

That's just the point though isn't it? He goes over so easily so often, that he is unlikely now to "get the benefit of the doubt".

Agree somewhat, but what annoyed me about that incident was that he still had the ball at his feet and could've done something infinitely more productive than flopping to the floor.

I was surprised he got the booking when he didn’t even appeal for a pen, yes he went down with minimal contact but if he doesn’t appeal then how can he be cheating? It could have been poor balance.

"Not just here in England"

He's accusing football of hypocrisy, not English football.
