And so the upheaval continues... last summer's would-be heroes are now this summer's deadwood. Wasn't this the very scenario that our little bald genius of a chairman was specifically going to avoid with his Director of Football structure? Doesn't appear to be working out very well, just like so many of his other football-related plans....

We'll probably end up spending most of the summer haggling with Schalke over €500k on the fee for Howedes, before they get hacked off so much that they pull the plug and we end up getting some cast-off that no one's ever heard of from a mid-table French outfit, all the while simultaneously negotiating with Leeds or someone else for the sale of Kaboul,,,,

But no matter, we'll be kept 'entertained' by lots of juicy ITK gossip which will only serve to heighten expectations, then offer lots of excuses why those 'almost-deals' fell through because of the other chairmen being unreasonable.... again.

I give him a 50% chance of being here come the start of next season and about a 30% chance of reaching the end of it .

Those odds are quite generous for a Spurs manager .

Hindsight is wonderful. Getting really bored of people hating on our signings.

They are all very good players just turns out they didn't work out. Get over it :)

Agree. It's not all about "bad players" or "bad signings", sometimes it just doesn't quite work out for other factors.

Love those quotes and I think he's arguably been misunderstood with the emphasis on the "some ideas" bit.

It's clear to me that he's just trying not to give too much away. He will know exactly who our targets are. Moreover, what he says about the EL is bang on and that it's not necessarily about having lots of players but the right players who are both phyiscally and MENTALLY strong to be able to play in more games across multiple comps.

It's not the players or the system that are the problem, it's that we haven't got players who fit the system we play.

For example we play a high line and high pressing game. This makes sense because it utilises Lloris's speed as a sweeper/keeper but we are trying to do it with slow CBs like Verts and Fazio. We have quick CBs like Dier and Chiriches but they aren't good players (yet). So the best we can do is something like Dier and Verts which is neither fish nor fowl. Similarly Chadli is a decent player but he doesn't put the work in that the system demands and worse tends to occupy the same space as Eriksen reducing his effectiveness.

We know that tactics isn't Poch's strong point but at the very least we need a Plan A and a plan B if Plan A isn't working. Players need to be bought to fit into one of these plans; not just because we think they are good players or are bargain buys we can make a few quid on down the line.

Seems like Poch. is fed up with the Euro league games....Spurs must be the PL club with the highest games played this season...

This is a typical 'we've just lost' email. Relax dude. There are things to be positive about if you look for them. We're not Chelsea or ManU, you knew that already.

You have a point regarding the buys in the 'Bale Window',everyone was genuinely excited by them and it just hasn't worked out. However, this summer signings were underwhelming at the time and have managed to be even worse. The likes of Fazio, Stambouli, Davies are not the players to challenge for the top 4. We didn't sign any attacking players where we look like having very little creativity. It is not hindsight as many of us were worried at the beginning of the season. Thank g-d Kane stepped up as we would have been in serious trouble otherwise.

So much negative crap on this site now. Yes I am disappointed this late in the season as up to February all looked well and we had a chance of winning something or having a top 4 finish......no one complained the! OK we have lost our way but I think we looked shagged out after all the games we have played this season and some teams have worked out our system and weaknesses. I feel there will be a clear out but some players will come good next season. Give Poch a chance.
