Imo the shit Ade has had on this site is
well OTT.
He's upfront on his own. He can't keep running across the back four like a headless chicken as they simply pass it around him.
I thought he did plenty of running against Arsenal, was out wide a lot when he'd prob be more effective in the middle but thats him coming to get the ball not hiding away. And he ran from one end to the other on a quick counter on more than a few occasions and yet still got slated on here.
He can be frustrating in front of goal as he rarely smacks it but trys to place it. But he's always done that.
This is the guy who played for Arsenal when they were accused of trying to walk the ball in.
He is still the best striker we have.
I guess some just can't get over the fact he played for Arsenal and see what they want to see.

"I believe in Emmanuel Adebayor," he said. "We know always a striker maybe during some periods finds it difficult to score, but he made a lot of effort for the team"

Over the past few seasons (aside from the period of the AVB debacle) you can find quotes from Redknapp and Sherwood quoting almost the same as Poch. None of our current strikers are finding it easy top score in this new system, but all in my opinion work hard for the team.

Amazing how any criticism of Ade is condemned by the same people who have absolutely no problem in kicking Soldado's ass just because of his first season in England.

Adebayor just isn't cutting it right now. ANYBODY can see that. Until he does start performing, he needs to be benched to give the other guys a shot.

This has NOTHING to do with the fact that Ade was a former Gunner either - sheesh, some credit puleeeease! I'm concerned about our players fulfilling their potential and playing like they give a damn, which Ade is grossly failing in right now.

When Ade does get his act together, I'll be the first to sing his praises but right now he needs to be DROPPED.

If people said he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo it'd be understandable.

But people call him lazy when he's not. He runs and runs.

I hope you're wrong on that... I really do. If you're suggesting that Ade's performing to expectation, and this is the real 'running' him then we have bigger problems at large.

My suggestion that Ade be benched would be for his own good, as well as the team. I prefer him fired up and good to go than the Ade of late. A guaranteed starting spot is the one proven poison for motivation, and it shows as clear as rain right now.

I agree with you, but unfortunately you've stumbled upon the one of the main problems with Ade. He doesn't respond well to competition and needs to have his ego stroked, even when he's playing poorly (and he is playing poorly whatever way you look at it).

The biggest problem though lies with our stupid decision not to add to our attack during the transfer window. We've only got ourselves to blame.

Totally! We shouldn't be playing into Ade's need for ego-massaging by capitulating and suffering as a result. A line should be drawn and he needs to play his part otherwise he should get the frak out!

A new striker would've been good, but a part of me senses that it may also be counter-productive - at least at this stage. Poch, like AVB favors the single striker role. Bringing in a new striker would send the message that Soldado and Kane have abjectly failed without been given a shot (in spite of Ade's poor performance) and outside options were sought - All of which would be disastrous to morale.

I'm more in favor of Poch first getting our strikers competing and firing on all cylinders as I feel they've clearly got the quality. If they don't cut it by Jan... then yes, hitting up another striker in the transfer window would be mandated.

Soldado's done fine this season, and he's just come off an injury - I expect and demand to see more of him in the starting line-ups to prove himself. Kane kinda blew his shot and will have to pick himself up and try again. But that's fine - it's how it should be!

Our midfield also need to get their acts together to make sure that the strikers are getting the proper supply through proper link-up. Towards the end of last season, Eriksen was linking up nicely with Soldado, while in pre-season - Lamela was linking up well with Soldado. This common denominator needs to be capitalized upon irrespective of Ade's feelings getting hurt!
