It's unfortunate that we live in a world where everything is put under a microscope and people are held accountable for any element of human error. Officials are so terrified of the consequences of getting the most minute detail wrong that, as in the case of VAR, every possible angle is scrutinised til the cows come home (and even then they can get it wrong). It's a great shame that the technology to enable better officiating and fairness has also opened up the Pandora's box of blame and shame. As a result the seemingly simplest of decisions takes an absolute age to emerge from the mire.
